have we scored any objectively ‘good’ goals recently? They seem to be bundled in, toe poked or setpiece goals from 4 yards.

they all count, don’t get me wrong but we were promised man city.

Adam Armstrong against Ipswich was a nice one. But yeah, it seems like all the nice moves we put together end with someone shanking it over the bar. I counted at least three shots that sailed way over yesterday; one from Smallbone, one from Brooks, one from someone else.

@Le Tissier's Laces, in keeping with the relative importance of our partnership, a bit like Young Frankenstein - Gene Wilder, and Igor - Marty Feldman, I will not presume to start the Saints v Preston thread, but my fingers are itching. And I've only just stitched the extra ones on.
As we now have 58 hours, give or take, until kick off on Tuesday, we need to act now, as the storm is at its height. Throw the switch, and breathe life into our new creation!
I hope you are using Green power. We don’t want a carbon powered monster, thank you very much!

Or get automatic promotion
Without wanting to overuse the word ‘bonkers’ …

On top of a bit of a bonkers season and yesterday’s totally bonkers game, it is still bonkers that if we won our last 5 games then we could actually be champions o_O

Not going to happen though, because that would be bonkers

Better than the Prem though, whatever

It’s true, and a lot of our most beautiful team moves work to perfection until that last defence splitting pass that just gets stopped by a defender’s toe

… and yesterday’s Fraser offside goal

Big shout to Ryan Manning as sub of the day yesterday

Whatever happens from this point on, this season has been 4 times better than last season. 24 wins compared to 6.

It would be great if we could make it count for something .

As saints fans we are not able to expect something good to happen but Ipswich, Leicester and Leeds will all be looking at us . That added pressure on them can only be a good thing.

Come on Saints, you just need to be heroes for 5 more games.

81 goals scored too and an outside chance to top 100 league for only the third time in the club's history.

Since Christmas, Che Adams has scored 12 goals in 15 starts.

I know they usually come off his a*se from two yards out, but those are still impressive figures. Had Stewart been fit, Che would have gone in January. He was clearly our plan B option. I mean, the Stewart signing was still an unnecessary gamble, but it was one that we were in the position to take.

Obviously it's annoying that we won't get any money for Che, but we got Stewart on the cheap anyway because of his injuries.

I will confidently predict that Ross Stewart is about half the player Adams is. And seeing as Adams isn’t much good that will be interesting

Not sure they are bothered by us just yet. Think we need to win on Tuesday for them to start taking any notice. I happily was giving grief to my Leeds supporting mates after their loss to Blackburn (so about 2:30pm yesterday) they all came back happily when Ipswich drew, they didn’t even mention the fact we had won as they don’t consider us in the top two hunt at all

Yeah, they're all still another poor round of fixtures away from needing to worry about us yet. And even that would require us to have not dropped any points first.

Leicester and Ipswich will know that it currently isn't our hands to catch them. And Leeds will know that if they beat us on the last day, it's almost certain that they would finish above us regardless of what happens beforehand.

And at the end of the day, each of the three of them are already going to be so caught up about the other two, that whether or not you throw us into the mix isn't going to change much.

Pressure does funny things though, *if* we win our next couple…

I just don’t see us winning all our remaining games, not to mention two of the toughest away games it’s possible to have. It’s just not going to happen. Even during our unbeaten run we loved to chuck a draw in there fairly frequently. I can see the others slipping up again, but it won’t make any difference.
