I thought that Jo Tessum made some good points whilst watching the match. The whole team seemed poor today and i would concur that KWP should have been subbed as he looked out of sorts - even though I would argue that he is probably the best footballer in this league. What I have been staggered by is how we seem to have stopped playing with pace and have swathes of matches where we are slower and too considered. I love to listen and play jazz and I suppose the best analogy I have with Saints is that when the spontaneity has disappeared, we look like we have lost inspiration. If we play slowly, the spark of creativity seems to be missing. We get self-conscious and the magic no longer happens. It is asif we have pt together some masterful performances yet struggle to even play scale when we slow the game and thing about stuff. The supporters seem fed up with continually playing out of the back. It is not creative and we just end up fumbling things. I feel that Bazunu is largely culpable of this. Some people on here have argued that he is under instruction to do so but, setting that aside, I cannot see what he adds to the team. A new goal keeper who inspires confident if a priority for the summer. Not fan.
So, necromancy appears to work! I couldn't fix Leicester, Leeds AND Ipswich, but two losses and a draw isn't a bad return. Oh, and Saints won, so we've gained three points on two of the teams above us, and two points on Ipswich. I've now got a couple of days to find wool of bat and tongue of dog. The LemonsLaces beast is taking on a life of its own. This is clearly an example of AI thread-writing at work. Alternatively, Russ needs to improve his substitute decisions, so that we are improved by his changes.
its like old teletext days for me. I wake up. See the score. My day is brightened. I see the other scores and my day is brilliant. On the other hand I worry for the psychology of some of you lot when I read through the threads
ITV football highlights have demoted us from the promotion chasers segment to the play off chasers segment ...
It’s just the result, the scorer and the time of the goals. You just get the high or the low, none of the roller coaster of emotions and the contradictory positions of ‘piss the league’ to ‘Martin out’ every 15 minutes.
That roar when we scored the third has seriously damaged my right ear, it's still ringing now. Long time since i have experienced that!
Strangely enough, last week Sky were only showing the top 3 in their in screen table during the game, but today they showed the top 4. Maybe they are hedging their bets.
We need Ipswich to drop some points for definite, and we could beat Leeds final day. So it's definitely in our hands if Ipswich get beat by either Hull or Cov. Both are likely as they try and secure play offs.
Pressure is sort of off for us now. We were expecting playoffs anyway and now we have a cheeky shot at autos again. We really have nothing to lose and have to give it everything. Class.
Since Christmas, Che Adams has scored 12 goals in 15 starts. I know they usually come off his a*se from two yards out, but those are still impressive figures. Had Stewart been fit, Che would have gone in January. He was clearly our plan B option. I mean, the Stewart signing was still an unnecessary gamble, but it was one that we were in the position to take. Obviously it's annoying that we won't get any money for Che, but we got Stewart on the cheap anyway because of his injuries.
have we scored any objectively ‘good’ goals recently? They seem to be bundled in, toe poked or setpiece goals from 4 yards. they all count, don’t get me wrong but we were promised man city.
Since Xmas we are clearly better with him on the pitch, it’s just frustrating that we have no backup for him His coming deep to setup attacks was instrumental in our good play early in the game We need to protect him for the playoffs
There must be some other reason he wasn’t there. He played well v Coventry Counter-intuitively, I think it’s possible that having 2 defensive-ish midfielders on, him and Flynn, may make us a better attacking side in some circumstances I think it helps us to break through a high press
It’s because we bring him on when we are under pressure, he did ok when we were more dominant and even scored
@Le Tissier's Laces, in keeping with the relative importance of our partnership, a bit like Young Frankenstein - Gene Wilder, and Igor - Marty Feldman, I will not presume to start the Saints v Preston thread, but my fingers are itching. And I've only just stitched the extra ones on. As we now have 58 hours, give or take, until kick off on Tuesday, we need to act now, as the storm is at its height. Throw the switch, and breathe life into our new creation!
