I have spent all week defending the Beale appointment so no it's not me having a go at Beale, he does need to change though.

Leif Davis is arguably the best full back in the league and Ba was doing a fantastic job on him, he barely had the ball in dangerous positions because Ba wasn't letting him. Aouchiche, who I really like as a player, has only played 3 games as a right winger in his career before yesterday so it's asking a player to do something he is not used to doing against one of the most in form players in the league, Davis instantly was playing 10 yards further forward. It was a poor decision and I expect he learns from it.
Maybe Ba was injured maybe he was knackered.

I can't remember who said it and I can't find it but I think it was @Prehab26 talking about Beales in game management being really poor and it's 100% correct. I am fairly certain that if Ba stays on we come away with at least a point and we are probably sat here talking about a good away point and a decent performance especially in the first half. Instead we bring on Aouchiche to play a position he has only played 3 times according to Transfermarkt. Thats just plain stupidity and it needs to improve now.
I agree about the substitution it’s not what I would have done but Ba had got a daft yellow for one, maybe that was in thinking, and I think it also reflects on our squad and our lack of confidence in some of the attacking players.

Problem with that though is that our best players won’t stick around for 3 years in the championship. We’ll continually be facing a battle to replace the best players in our team which is fine IF they invest big back into the squad. We just need some experienced bodies in there this squad is more than good enough for play offs imo.
so you are saying they will stay if we get relegated?

I’m saying our team isn’t good enough to survive in the PL as it is but the longer we stay in the championship the more of our best players we lose season by season. If we sell for arguments sake Clarke, Ballard and Hume then spend £5m on replacements who turn out to be duds were further away than we were before. If Ipswich went up now they’d get tanked every week unless they spend big.

You have to pump money in when you go up just because you spend 10 years in the championship that doesn’t mean you’re stronger than a club who’s spent 2 years in it and guaranteed to survive.

That’s the reason I want to stay in the Championship, I like it there, you don’t, doesn’t mean you are right.

nobody hounded out the last 3 managers imo so I don’t think that’s Fair. Also other than social media has they been any grumbling at games? I’ve not heard any.

I'm not just referring to the last three and tbf Mowbray received similar opposition when he was appointed.
His reception was only tempered because he sounds like us tbh.

Johnson was hounded out as another example, we were second at the time. I could go back through others but won't. I will say I remember clearly Jeff Stelling saying, 'Sunderland fans, take care what you wish for, you might regret it'. Can't remember the manager, I could search for it but me dinna's just arrived <laugh>

But if we sell, for arguments sake, Clarke, Ballard, and Hume and then spend £5m on players who are better, we'll be closer than we are.

Received wisdom is, you have to pump money in when you go up. What if we're trying to find a better way of doing it where you don't have to do that and don't put the club at financial risk?

Correct mate but selling a player for £20m and finding someone better for £5m isn’t easy. Nothing is to say that we can’t do it but generally better players cost more money. People will rightly point to Brighton but their scouting set up and budget is significantly larger than ours they pumped hundreds of millions into infrastructure hence all of the South Americans and they’re pretty much a one off.

I just hope when we do sell they reinvest properly.

Damn, no midweek fixture. At this rate I reckon the thread will break 100 pages before Friday’s game against Hull.

I think the key is finding the player on the way up. Spending when they’re one million, pre them being worth 5 million and keep them until they’re worth twenty. Were some way to doing that now but people lose their arse when we concede a goal (me included at times btw)

Of course it's not easy, that's why everyone wants to find that magic formula. But what's the point of assuming it's not going to happen? The way I see it, the club is still a work in progress. KLD has only been here 5 minutes. We have to give him time. We're already light years ahead of where we were.
Someone was claiming on the other thread that KLD wouldn't spend his own money on the club like it was a bad thing. Of course he shouldn't. The club should be self funded because that way we're not beholden to an oil rich state or a billionaire. But it's obvious that it will take time to get there, yet people are unhappy with him already.

Full 90 video, 58 minutes in. Defo didn’t bring his elbow up mind can’t believe Jackson has crouched down to initiate contact :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

But how do you compete with clubs even like Hull or Ipswich whose owners are dipping into their pockets. I agree he shouldn’t spend **** loads but you can’t expect to be a PL club without spending surely? You should be spending what you can as a football club and if we’re hugely under our FFP cap that’s a problem imo.

You do have to spend but the club should generate the money. That means he has an awful lot of work to do on the commercial side and player recruitment and sales have to be top notch. That's how you compete with clubs whose owners fritter away their own money. It seems that KLD possibly wants to do things without throwing his or his family's money around and I think he's right. I'd rather wait and see how that pans out. It could be great, it could end up with us stuck in the Championship. One thing is for certain though, it won't end the same way the Short era did.

Just seen the ref book Diego Carlos, in the Everton - Villa game, for picking the ball up after a free kick was given to Villa.

It should be automatic!

Every team does it to us, Ipswich did yesterday ...

... it's cheating ffs.

Over 300 saying they want Beale out ...

... along with Speakman, KLD and half the players.

The jury is out on Doris, the tea lady, but her chocolate éclairs have come in for quite some criticism <laugh>
They're appalling. Too much cream, not enough chocolate. She's taking the piss. And she doesn't use Yorkshire Tea, she's clearly not one of us. Makes me feel disconnected.
