That's the article most are referring to.

It's clearly bullshit for the reasons already mentioned. The punishment for just having an actual grenade, never mind throwing it in a public place would be far more than the slap that lad got.

Seen missiles raining down at other grounds but not the fuss stirred up like you see in Hull gleefully added to by the HDM.
Less segregation and stewarding between Chelsea fans and away fans, Liverpool Derbies, Liverpool v Man utd…Why do we need stewards between City fans and them wandering about if front of fans, elsewhere they sit down out of the way and just get up after a goal and sit down again ours run around like headless chickens as though a goal being scored by City is a dangerous occurrence which could lead to civil disorder and the end of civilisation as we know it.

It was an actual grenade according to the HDM - 'Incredibly, one of the items thrown onto the MKM pitch during a game was an old-fashioned army grenade, which upon discovery during the game was moved by the referee and then required the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit to be called to safely dispose of it post-match'.

Fair play to Baz for playing it down a bit.

Intercontinental ballistic missile with a thermonuclear warhead might've been a bit difficult for some to comprehend...

So City are giving away thousands of free tickets for the Rotherham game and it is commended as a great thing to get a good crowd. Hull and Rovers are doing cheap tickets (not free AFAIK) and they are criticised and mocked. Only on this forum eh?

I don't understand why it's ever criticised. Obviously it'd be best to have eevery ticket sold every week, but as that isn't realistic I'd much rather see the club be proactive and give away unused tickets than leave them empty benefiting no one.

I don't see much evidence of 'mocking' on here? Obviously its better to see the ground full then half empty, and of course that will go for the two RL club's too.
I heard the RL are changing the rules, I know its not like them, of the credentials for membership of the super league and average attendances is one of them. So if they fill the empty seats with freebies so be it, City are obviously doing the same and about time too, but l just hope we don't hear the usual b0llocks on the radio and in the local press about how passionate they are about RL ''on Humberside' because they have attracted a decent crowd on a Bank Holiday for their derby (cup final) and how much bigger it is than football etc etc etc because of it.
For me, the more the merrier, and the more people in the city centre before and after the games spending a few bob in the place.
I don't want to hear another prominant councillor say such stupid things as 'Premier League football never brought am extra penny peice into this city' as we once did because it is stuff like that and media click bait like 'Hull is a rugby town' which fans this arguement and does no-one any favours.

HDM seem to have changed it yet again, firstly removing the WWII aspect, now changing 'grenade' to 'missile', which shows they know they were wrong.

They've achieved their goal of getting attention for a non-story, and painting football fans in a bad light.

Job done for them, and yet some bizarrely still defend them.

Yes, strange how a year old negative article about City crops up just before we get our largest league crowd for a long time.
You could almost think the HDM has some sort of agenda.

Years ago I was the victim of an armed robbery. As I was shook up I didn’t want to speak to the Hull Daily Mail. They then spoke to a witness who I knew well and printed a story. The witness was that angry that they had distorted his version that he marched down to the HDM offices to speak to the “ journalist “ and Editor.
No one would come see him but he was told that the Editor stood by the “ journalists “ story.
Complete ****ers making a sickening time in my life even worse.
A plague on them I say.

Whoops, I spoke too soon. They've still got articles about violent City fans hurling WWII ordnance.

Far worse goes on elsewhere but their local papers aren’t full of negative stufff. Of course they haven't got rugby league teams to. promote as a massive, family friendly affair where nothing nasty ever happpens with nothing but positive stories. Whilst we have an old article about someone getting a banning order there are articles and pictures showing great moments for FC and Rovers going back decades,

Oh and it was a huge ****ing grenade, they've put 'it' next to a pic of the pitch and a corner flag, it's three quarters the height of the corner flag! :emoticon-0100-smile
