I don't care if you're right wing, or left wing, conservative or liberal, wanted Trump to win twice, or a never Trumper...

... Why the **** are people still backing him?

The guy is actively trying (and fortunately failing miserably) to end democracy right now. Surely even for the most diehard Republicans, even those that voted for him twice, that should be a red flag that the man is not good.

How the hell can anyone continue to back or support someone who is trying to overturn democracy?

Here's the thing about ending democracy... Even if you like Trump... You don't get to pick who's after Trump. Throw out elections and election results to get the man you want... You're ****ed if the next man along isn't someone you like.

At least with democratic elections we get a chance to kick the prez out every four years. Why the hell does anyone want to end that?

It’s called fascism mate, it’s a well worn path.

He did what all fascist dictators do, convince the core that there’s enemies both external and internal that only HE can protect them from, and they’ve followed the narrative irrespective of both facts and logic. I have no doubt that he wanted to try and remove the 2 term limit had he won, and then have his spawn lined up to stand to eventually replace him.

Fortunately he ultimately failed, but what he’s leaving behind is a divided society with a decent percentage of the populous full of hate and resentment, that he helped create and stoked.

Truly the worst and most divisive POTUS in modern history. This is what happens when you elect an intellectually limited, narcissistic, sociopath who literally has nothing in his locker other than racism and lies.

A shameful period in American history, that’ll be pawed over with bemusement by future generations imo.

Doing great. Work is good, life is good, saving money because not going out anywhere because of covid... Checked in on here several times but could never remember my password... Discovered the email on forgot password is working again now so was able to get in.
Nice to see you back mate, and pleased to hear life is treating you well.

I don't like Trump, I never have, but I usually respect other people's political opinions... Especially since I tend to be fairly centrist normally and I don't ever follow either party line.

I'm just baffled that anyone is still supporting him after these recent weeks. Calling a spade a spade, he is actively trying to overturn a legitimate election. Things just don't return back to normal if you suceed with that.

He actually is trying to set up a fascist dictatorship. It's easier to understand what happened in 1930's Germany with all the hardships they faced... America isn't that bad and you see double digits percentages of the population supporting someone trying to end democracy here. It's just baffling to me.

That's good to hear mate. Fcking weird year aint it... Covid changing life as we know it, Lloyd murder and wordlwide Black Lives Matter movement, Trump trying to install himself as Caesar, Liverpool winning the league. Who'd have ever thunk it :bandit:

Still on the west coast of the mighty US iirc? What's it like out there? The country seems a mess as an outsider watching events unfold, or has done at least over the last 6 months in particular.

This.

I've often thought that. It's not like most of 1930's German population woke up one day and thought, yeh we want to be part of a murderous dictatorship. They genuinely believed they were right. Ultra-nationalism is a poison.
