I like Papas. Willerby one is so much better than the Bilton one. The fish & Chips are good too. Bilton one just seems to be of a lower standard all over.

The one outside Scarbourough is very good.
On the subject of the lack of personal contact these days, did the number of Xmas cards you received seem lower than usual? I heard stories of people sending texts and sending best wishes via Facebook and the like. Sad really as many older folks will not have received cards from family and friends as they could possibly have missed out on group texts and social media. Same with holiday postcards.
The worlds gone mad.

It' s extremely sad indeed.
On the street where i live there are some houses that get Their Groceries, Takeaways etc everything delivered to their homes. They can' even be bothered to lift their heads and say good morning or hello when they do venture out.
I just find it sad that it' becoming more of a I'll keep myself to myself society.
The internet just seems to be destroying a lot including a hell of a lot of jobs in city centres.
Before my good lady banned me from answering the door to cold callers I answered it to a couple of RSPCA bods.
“Hi, sorry to bother you. Are you an animal lover?”
“Sort of”
“Do you have any pets?”
“Yes”
“What do you have?”
“A cock”
Silence.
“Do you want me to show you it?”
“BEN, Just say no thank you & close the door”
She finally banned me when I answered the door stark bollick naked to the god squad & invited them in as long as they respected my clothes free environment & disrobed before entering. They’ve never been back.
I got a **** load of electronic e Christmas cards (online ones, not e bah gum Yorkshire ones)
Didn’t open any email containing one
I’m not a big fan of cards for every ****er but if you are going to send them at least send them rather than email them
EDIT In hindsight I should have opened them...they might have had bitcoins inside!?!?!
It's needless waste though isn't it. Everyone gets dozens of these cards that go straight in the bin after Christmas.
I mean I still do it too, and I like the look of cards on display at Christmas, but I wouldn't argue that replacing cards with a more sustainable alternative is a bad thing. In general I think we cling onto pen and paper far too much when there's almost always a better alternative these days.
I must say that when I was in town pre Xmas it never seemed very busy.

I buy nearly all my stuff in Binns and Debenhams and they are never very busy.
If these 2 go I would have very little interest in going in to the city centre.

I know what you're saying, but I have no interest in receiving a sustainable alternative. I'm perfectly happy if someone doesn't send me one, but the last thing I want is another bloody email
I'll always prefer reading an actual book and receiving a proper letter than anything done online. Sending an email or text as a birthday message shows lack of effort and care for the person you are contacting.
The machines will rise against us and we need to be ready to put the ****ers down when it happens. I've got my toaster chained to the wall and I nutted my kettle just in case.
Well I don't suppose books are such a problem since people only buy a limited number and they aren't exactly disposable, plus there is a tangible benefit in the artwork of the cover and how they look on a shelf and stuff. But there must be so much waste across the world from letters that go straight in the bin. There's no benefit to getting it that way unless perhaps you struggle to use technology. I think it's just a nostalgic thing with paper sometimes; but remember everything is new at some point and there will have been people at one time objecting to that new-fangled paper being used everywhere in place of etching into stone tablets or whatever.
Not the best view, but the old police cops station has been well stripped back.
How refreshing to see all these developments progressing with minimal fuss.
