We out-Palaced Palace today. Yeh we looked bad but they wanted to come here and seperate their defence and attack in a way that foregoes half the midfield. As I said, once the runners were pretty much run out we came into the game and looked stupidly potent in the last 15/20. Hilarious in the end watching Townsend play out of his skin in vein, but not going to pretend I didn't **** myself whenever he touched the ball.
Elliot was the best player today, no doubt, but Lejuene deserves respect as I didn't think he could deal with their speed. Joselu was handy when we needed him but Christ we spent the first half with Perez further up-field. Mind when he's batting away headers in defence you see the point.
Shelvey was literally the most ineffectual player to last the full 90. I really wanted Hayden to stay on in his place.
A frustrating match ended in a positive fashion. Viva LA Benitez!

Shelvey is playing poor and should be dropped again. Merino is far better and he knows it.
I think we are still two or three players away from a good mid table finish but this result is a good one. Under previous managers we would have lost or drawn that.
