Abraham's is a good player for me. He'd have been a very useful addition for how we play. I'd prefer him to Joselu. However I wouldn't lose sleep over him and think too much has been made of him going elsewhere. He signed for an established PL side, fair enough. Trundle and Quinns opinions are worth nothing to be honest.
I think Abraham's might struggle though. Firstly he looks like he needs a rest after a long summer to me. Certainly I think he will empty out. However I think Bony will soon be taking his place (he hasn't resigned to sit on the bench has he). Secondly I can't see where the opportunities are carved out for the pair of them.
They don't look to have much in wide areas and are playing a narrow diamond. Carroll, Fer, Sanches, Clucas are all good players but there is not much creativity there or a desire to get into the box. Carroll will put a nice ball in but if you are doing that from a narrow infield position, its gonna have to be a corker and fairly flat.
The full backs are good and attacking but hardly dynamic. You could see yesterday that Naughton and Olsson will get forward but they are reluctant to get behind to the byline, or cut inside etc. Its quite easy to mark full backs who essentially run in straight lines.
Losing Sigurdsson has hurt them badly. They may have to return to Narsingh, Dyer, Routledge, Montero options at some stage.
I think Abraham would have got more from Perez, Atsu, Ritchie, Murphy to be honest. Perhaps didn't look at the whole picture.
