Sack Sheehan! I missed the game, gutted. Shame to give up the win right at the end but there was nothing riding on it. Let's look forward to next season
lol ! I just felt it was an opportunity to give extra false hope for next season by signing off with a win at home to a relegation threatened side.
Stayed long after the final whistle - good to see Montero walking into the pitch at the end. A game that had an end of season feel to it - a game that we should have won …. comfortably. I suppose that the final score didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. A decent send off for Joey and Kyle - what servants they have been for us, especially Naughton with 10 years and 300 games We scored 2 excellent goals (Eom and Cullen) whilst Ronald’s wasn’t too shabby. A creditable finish in the end - the difference between us and Cardiff? We sacked a poor Manager and benefited from a new broom. Cardiff didn’t until it was too late …
I get it, believe me As fans, we ride the (short) wave and suffer when we hit the wall But at the end of the day we're Swans ️ and we love the club And we'll keep deluding ourselves indefinitely
As well as Kyle and Joe, Sheehan has confirmed that Jon McLaughlin, Cyrus Christie and Kristian Pedersen will all also be leaving the club this summer, with the club still hopeful of Harry Darling signing a new deal, having made an improved offer.
I don't think the manager was the issue at Cardiff - the players just aren't good enough. That team would have been relegated last season if Reading hadn't been docked points. They didn't take that as a warning and use it to improve the squad.
Cardiff had - I believe - the 7th highest wage bill, but replaced Bulut with a novice who failed to get any consistency out of the team. I think if they had appointed someone like Gary Rowett (who saved Oxford) he’d have kept Cardiff up.
This was the table with 8 games to go: We won 17pts in the last 8 games to be nowhere near the bottom. Luton took 14, Derby 12 … Cardiff won 5
Aye, but my point is that no matter the manager, Cardiff don't have the players. It worked for us because Williams wasn't up to it and we all kinda knew we were better than our results were showing.
Personally, I think that with a better Manager they might have managed to stay up - equally, I think that if we’d kept Williams in charge (and had Grimes instead of O’Brien) we could have really flirted with relegation. Anyway, I’m glad that we finished in the top half and that they ended bottom Summer recruitment is now key
