I think this is on the wrong thread, in fact it should be on a 'denial of access to the public realm' thread, but apparently the Allams have built their gate to keep terrorists out...you know, the one they don't have planning permission for because they never applied for it in the end
I can't really make it out to be honest, and maybe it isn't, but it looks like they've built it, but left it in the open position for now?

Are you sure they don't have planning permission?

From what I can remember there was an application went in which received a load of public submissions (all of them against it when I had a look through) but then it seemed to go quiet. It was back in January that they were supposedly making a decision on it I think. I never heard this bit about them not even applying for it?

They haven't got planning permission, according to Angus Young, they withdrew the application before it was heard.

So would it be that big new building next to the C4DI development? I thought that's where the multi story was going?

What multi story?
There's one by the new concert theatre.

All the housing development is on the West side of ...erm...Market Place... is it still Market Place on the south side of the A63?

Would be absolutely fantastic for the city, but as OLM said our location might **** us over.

But, in saying that, who thought we'd get City of Culture? Nowt's impossible.

I don't think we've actually got a prayer, Manchester, Leeds, York and Cardiff are also bidding for it and Manchester's the obvious option.

I'd say this was actually worth praying for, would be exactly the sort of thing Hull needs to lift it's profile longer term. Yes, Manchester would seem the obvious choice but Hull must be able to undercut them, no?

I don't think cost alone will do it, they'll be more concerned with staff retention, practicality of operations and infrastructure.

Leeds is crowded,
York is too old,
Manchester's far too hot and Cardiff is too cold...
