Last 2 times we played there on the last game of a season was 1984/85 and 2004/05 seasons and we were promoted both seasons.

The only ground with a pub in each corner. I was at the 2-1 defeat 2005.. Think Cort scored very early, then we just set up camp and let them come at us. Still we were up so not a problem

Good memories of the 90s - 3-0 night match; 1-0 Dewhurst howitzer and an Alcide slide when The Great Escape juggernaut was moving out of first gear.

The manner in which you play teams though can make a big difference. Having the tough games all together can make things tougher, particularly over the festive season, while having easy teams to end the season can make the difference for a play off campaign or for sealing automatic promotion.

Aye, okay- we know, we've been

Or take it (your schedule) by the horns and just get on with it.

It's sport, it's football, look for reasons to win games, stop coming up with endless reasons why we shouldn't.

Is discussing football really such a negative side of life?

Changed villa to wensdee.meh

I'm always positive about city but I have a strong feeling this season will be a disaster.

Me too. Looking at these fixtures I'll be surprised if The Slut is still here by Jan 1st.

Surprised people are saying it's a great first game, we've got probably one of the teams that will finish top 3, away. I'd rather have 3 points on the board, particularly with a new manager and team. I'd say with this fixture we have next to zero chance of getting that.

The only people being negative are those saying there's no point discussing fixtures because we play everyone twice.

It was 3-1 and we did score in the first minute. Actually City were ****e that day and Brentford fielded a mixture of reserve and youth team players with the reserve team coach in goal. We took thousands of fans to the game hoping to see City put on a performance and I'm sure, from memory we lost the final three games of that season and threw away a golden opportunity of winning the title.

Look towards the first game as a chance to make a statement and get one of the trickier away games done straight away. My optimism may yet dampen in the next 6 weeks and we'll have more of an idea of what to expect as preparations for the season take hold.

At least one of the four shut a while back.
Sad times...
Good trip though
I know it's been said many times before but I vividly remember the trip back from there when news started to come through of the Bradford City fire. In fact I think RonGuvs girlfriend at the time thought he was in Bradford after only really paying attention to the fact that we'd gone somewhere beginning with B and ending with 'ford' !
