The save Jak made for the first penalty was superb. down low to his left and just inside the post. It was a pretty well struck penalty, just a fantastic save. He certainly deserves his place back next week.
He has to start next time out. He can't do anymore than he did last night. And tbh a break from the limelight might do Marshall good.
It's not about comparing the two keepers , you can only pick one at a time and it's widely considered a very different job mentally than any other position, regards pressure , focus and resilience. To drop a keeper as soon as a mistake is made is a ludicrous proposition to work under as a keeper surely ,and won't do anything to settle the one position that needs it. Outfield players can share roles , be subbed put in a cameo performance and loads of other shizz, Pope face shoehorned in his new man at the expense of having a settled defence and it's no coincidence the amount of leakage there has been since
If you want boring stats, Marshall's record as a Premier League goalkeeper for Cardiff and Hull City is 95 goals conceded in 46 games (or 2.065 per game). The Jak's record is 15 in 9 (or 1.66 goals per game). All of which proves bugger all, really. I do feel a bit for Marshall, and I still think he could be an excellent keeper for us, but for now Jakupovic should be first choice.
If Cortois made a blob would he dropped, Cech.. De Gea. et al..?. no they'd just get on with it and accept its part and parcel of being a keeper and knowing that what they bring is more than the error. But of course we're Hull City and as soon as Jak made an error, even if you consider it to be one he's lambasted/ dropped because he didn't cost £5 million. What he brings IMO is significantly more than Marshall can bring/ does bring and at a time when the club need a 12th man and the team need a leader He'll do for me. I still personally feel that the team is picked beyond manager level.
Out of the numerous goals Marshall conceded in the heavy defeats it'd could have been + or - 1 or 2 against Jaku in goal. But my opinion has certainly changed and got to go now with Jaku. Macgregor back soon (hopefully), maybe shouldn't have spawned £5 mill. And Burnley managed to get Robinson for **** all
To loss of confidence/ not been effected by the inevitable **** up. Probably most important asset for a goalkeeper after physical ability (which I suspect there is very little between top premier league and lower divisions).
After being pretty ****ed around since he arrived with never really being consistently selected and taking a bit of hammer from us fans after that weds match in particular it'd be easy for jak to not really give a **** and just pick his pay cheque up, instead, when he plays he visibly gives a massive **** and whether or not he is our best option in goal (he is for me) he deserves a run almost based on his passion for the club and winning alone. He really is becoming a cult hero
