May I remind you both we have a youth and loanee thread that some of us respectfully posted on at the time .
Could you please read all the threads before posting in the future to avoid another awkward situation arising like this ?.

And, importantly, play for each other, have no ego or entitlement trip and play exciting, attacking football - they are a delight to watch.

When I am told that I talk a load of old tosh and don't know what I am talking about by somebody who has just posted on another thread that Wes must be got rid of because he has never done anything good for Norwich it is probably as well that I will shortly be leaving for Gatwick to get an early morning flight back to Nice. I suspect that by the time I get internet connection again by visiting Bar Magnan AN will be gone and we will be looking for a new Manager. I think it may well be a mistake but as with all things football it comes down to a matter of opinion . My final thought is really that if he goes I just
can't think of anybody I want to see as a replacement

Well it might help if you actually read what I wrote and put it in context, which was

"We'd be better off getting rid of Naismith & Hoolahan & keeping Pritchard & Maddison".

I wrote that in reply to the suggestion that Naismith & Pritchard should go and we keep Hoolahan & Maddison.

Rather than being negative and misrepresenting what I type why don't you make the alternative arguement, if that's what you believe. If you think for the future Hoolahan is a better prospect than Pritchard just say so.

Also I never and have never said Hoolahan has never done anything good, what I said was

"Why what has Hoolahan done in a Norwich shirt that's so great. Anyway it's about the future not the past".

Honestly you come on here every now and then and moan because posters are discussing things they don't have the right to discuss, because they don't have any in depth knowledge of the everyday running of the team and misrepresent the views of people you don't agree with. Why don't you just give your views and discuss the reasoning behind them.

Read my post #2 again on the Rumour Mill thread.
I suggested we sell EITHER Pritchard or Naismith to fund a bid for Nahki Wells - I never said both.
So "it might help if you actually read what I wrote" <grr>

Thats why I said it was a suggestion that Naismith & Pritchard should go. Clearly you feel both Naismith & Pritchard are expendable in order to bring in another stronger player i.e. Wells. I don't, Pritchard has the potential to be key for us for years to come, whilst I don't think either Naismith nor Hoolahan are

Anyway why would we want to get rid or Pritchard as it would appear he's the only player in our team, that a team in the 2 auto places wanted to buy.

So just for clarity I would rather get rid of Naismith & Hoolahan to fund the purchase of a single replacement, Pritchard is one of a few things the club did this summer that will take us further in the future. Hoolahan and Naismith may have a role to play this season, but after that, whatever league we're in I don't see them as having a role. Pritchard & Maddison potentially have a role to play in the club for years to come.

My biggest problem with AN is that he steadfastly REFUSES to change formation and all he does is replace 'like for like', despite it being BLINDINGLY obvious that it isn't working and apart from our win at Blackburn, we have only just won games and been embarrassed at both Brum and Brighton.
I accept that Pinto, Howson and Jarvis are injured, but WHAT does he see in Martin that he keeps the captain's armband and so feels he has to play him every week - in the words of Anne Robinson - "You are the weakest Link - Goodbye!!!" Our 'goals against' column doesn't lie and I would love someone to tell me when in any game this season we have conceded a goal due to the other team's brilliance, as opposed to one or more players not doing their job.

By comparison, it's a JOY to go and watch the under 23 and under 21 games where Dmitri Halajko mostly starts with at least 2 strikers and proper wingers, with each player seeming to know what their job is and I think they have only conceded 2 goals in 5 games.

The saddest (and sickest) thing about this, and the check-a-point trophy, is that AN is present at most games so can see first-hand that a change of shape, formation and tactics can pay dividends.
So why not carry this refreshing attacking, positive footballing ethos through to the first team, just for once <doh>
Give Jerome Lafferty for company for 15-20 minutes, not 2 or 3!
It can't possibly prove any less successful than the dead horse he flogs repeatedly every Saturday at the moment :(

It's got to the stage now where I honestly believe he could do a better job managing the first team than AN !

Can someone tell me why Halajko is allowed to play with different formations than the Championship team? I would expect Alex to want them playing the same as he does eg. two up front instead of one.

I meant to say "one up front instead of two."

Ha! I posted the U23 result on here because you had already done so on the other thread DD. I just thought some positive news would lighten the mood.

It seems strange that people on here say that AN is tinkering if he makes changes and that he is refusing to make changes if he doesn't. Against QPR, he brought in Oliveira and Naismith as an attacking option. Unfortunately, Olsson's sending off meant that the game plan went out the window in the 2nd minute as Brady had to drop to LB and Naismith had to cover two positions, including tracking back when the ball was lost. With 11 men, I think we could well have won that match but with 10 we were much more limited and Oliveira lacked support at times. That's natural, but Naismith did his upmost to cover both positions, worked hard throughout as well as organising others to make the changes necessary throughout. He capped that performance with an excellent goal as well and I'd like to see him start again against Derby. As for 'weak links', I am more concerned about Bennett than Martin, and Bassong had a reasonable game in place of Klose, considering we were playing with 10 men and thus more exposed on the flanks.

As for the comparisons with the U23s, IMO the style is different because the players are different. Had James Morrison been available the style would have been more like the first team with him playing as the AM behind Morris. As for the formation, AN has varied between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-1-4-1 throughout the season and often shifting to a 4-4-2 for the last 20 minutes or so if we're chasing the game, so it isn't exactly set in stone.

    Excellent post Rick.

My gripe is that last season, even when players were fit, the starting 11 seemed to change for most games and my lasting memory of that is when he opted to play RM against Liverpool at home and all the fans who were in the pub thought wtf!!!!
I accept that he made changes to the starting11 against QPR, but they were pretty much ‘like for like’ and no real change in the formation or tactics and obviously Olsson’s sending off didn’t help matters on Saturday and still only 1 striker, yet when we were in the Championship in 14-15, he occasionally played both Jerome and Hooper from the start. I don’t know if you were at the under 23 game against Celtic, but I was very impressed by Canos, in much the same way as I was impressed by somebody named Wilshire when we played Arsenal reserves about 6 or 7 years ago – so what do I know???? Has Canos even made it to the bench for the first team???? Also, where was Pritchard on Saturday???
