I think the surprising thing is that I'm just not that surprised, a large part of the general public are stupid xenophobic peons who cN be too easily won by personalities, the output of countries raised on reality TV shows for 10 years and perpetually kept scared by the media. For shame.

She's shameless I believe. The DNC has ****ed this up so badly, but of course they'll blame Sanders and his supporters. I think Sanders would have had a better chance against Trump than Clinton, much more so.

I'm not sure Trump even really expected to win. I think his presidency will be a shambles, I don't think he has the competency or the temperament.

No, he doesn't. He won't get much done as even a Republican Congress will bawk at some of his policies, if he has any at all. And I agree about Sanders. He's not perfect but he would have wiped the floor with Trump. Clinton lost because alot of pro-Sanders progressives couldn't stomach voting for her. That's not their fault for abstaining or voting third part; it's her fault for being such a shambolic candidate that she failed to win their trust.

^^^ Totally agree. Just like Brexit they've voted for some kind of change without really understanding what it might mean.
Fell hook, line and sinker for the emotional hype - like their British counterparts, they're in for a rude awakening.

Right wingers often talk about the self-loathing of the left. What about the self-loathing of the Republican women who voted for Trump?

That's it, folks. Confirmed as the 45th.

Still can't believe the Americans went full-******. I thought that even thought they hate Clinton, they would have held their nose and voted for four more years of establishment neoliberalism at the very least to keep Trump out.

Hindsight and all that but was USA ever going to vote in a woman president, especially after 2 terms of a black one?

The media is acting surprised, that's the funniest thing.

As is Twitter. I follow a lot of bands, musicians, actors and actresses on Twitter, both American and British, and every single one of them who have Tweeted are shocked and absolutely gutted. I understand why, I'm a little surprised and gutted as well. Hopefully, though I won't hold my breath, they sort themselves and have a well-needed second revolution.

People who keep making remarks about nuclear wars with Trump in really want to stop using Twitter and the outpourings on leftie luvvies as their sources. Hillary Clinton is more of a sabre rattler. Russia and China favour Trump because he will be more of an isolationist and not intervene as much as Clinton would have done. NATO members who haven't paid the contributions in they are supposed to may well have to start spending more on defence if Trump decides that they can pay up or America will not offer a nuclear shield any more, as he has said he will.
People before the war criticised the USA for being isolationist, then after it they have criticised them for interfering too much. If Trump does tell Europe to paddle their own canoe it will be interesting to see what happens if Putin decides to test out the resolve of its neighbouring countries if he thinks the USA won't intervene.
Either way, Clinton or Trump, it would have been a more dangerous world.

That's why I held my tongue ellewoods. I didn't want to say anything, but as long as he was in the running he had a strong chance.

This isn't going to end well.

Seems he increased his share of hispanic and black voters.

Clinton apparently made a concession phone call to Trump personally.

She's so spineless she didn't have the courage to stand in front of her supporters, thank them for their support and admit she wasn't good enough. Pathetic.

They normally call to concede ahead of making their own speech.

They're liberals, not left-wing.
