The Warwick bumper (16:15) is a tricky affair what with a few newcomers involved, but had a small e/w bet on Gaelic Surprise, who didn't do too badly on his only run so far, in a bumper which was won in a decent time.

Hell of a bumper for the time of year at Down Royal tomorrow with six out of the eight having already a win under there belt. Joey Sasa looked immense at Galway slamming a fancied Elliott runner with ease, I can see him following up here and have had a decent bet on him earlier at 4s, into a top price 3/1 now. Going to take a good one to win this, the Meade horse looked pretty good to me on his last start.

In the opener Monbeg Notorious looked a very decent ex pointer for Gigginstown when hacking up in a bumper by 15l and was readily available at 6/4 earlier but has now shortened. No betting proposition for me at the price now but it'll be interesting to see how he accounts for pretty decent opposition tomorrow.
Great shout Beefy!! <cheers> Went in to 9/4 at one point today then went off 3/1 touched 10/3! Couldn't resist the 10/3. Won pretty cosily too! The Fav was extremely disappointing especially as the money came in for him late!

Done that fair easy the bumper horse, couldn't believe it wasn't nearer favouritism last evening! The other one won too but pretty fortutiously from what I saw.

Well done Swanny and anyone else on their way to the payout desk.

My nap for the meeting was Lord Nelson in the sprint, on antepost at 7/1, yet again this season one ive been on antepost and looking forward to gets injured in the week before the race.

So Mi Dar 33/1, La Cressonniere 14/1 and now Lord Nelson 7/1

I cant remember a harder looking breeders cup than this, very tough gig.

Morning team. Nothing for me today but anyone see that Fort Bastion got claimed yet again last evening! He’s now been in 3 barns in less than a fortnight. The timeline reads:

22 October – ran and won a claimer for old boy Dave O’Meara. Then claimed by Tom Dascombe

3 November – ran and won a claimer for Tom Dascombe. Claimed swiftly by Brian Ellison.

I saw that Fort Bastion race as they happened to have ATR on in the pub as well as the Man United rubbish. Clearly he is going to have to get used to living out of a suitcase. I wonder how much Dascombe made out of him being in the yard for twelve days. They certainly won’t have got rich backing him at 4/7.

Where will the old boy end up next?!?

Brasserie Zédel when he stops winning.

Songbird may look like a licence to print money in the Distaff but she has never raced against older fillies before and she has won a lot of small field events to stay unbeaten.

I cannot say that I am in any hurry to back the visitors from Europe in the Friday Breeders’ Cup card.

Ryan Moore prefers Intelligence Cross in the Juvenile Turf to Lancaster Bomber, perhaps wary of the fact that when runner-up in the Dewhurst the latter was the pacemaker. Rodaini disappointed last time and it is hard to see him troubling the home team, with Big Score and Good Samaritan looking likely smart types.

The O’Brien family represent almost the whole foreign challenge in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, although former French filly Spain Burg (winner of the Rockfel) makes her new home debut with Frankie still aboard. Marcel Boussac fifth Cavale Doree is an interesting addition to this field by Christophe Ferland, so clearly the owner has deep pockets and big aspirations.

The home team may start a very good weekend against the visitors, obviously in the dirt races but even in the turf events.

I've played Thorntoun Lady 40/1 (e/w) in Newcastles 6:50.

Lewis Edmunds claims 7lb, on top of a handy 3lb drop from the handicapper, and he rides well at Newcastle. The horse has looked in need of a step up in trip and does have a 7f staying on 2nd to its name at Ayr if go back far enough. Stayed on to pass beaten rivals last time and caught my eye with the claimer here at a big price.

Small stakes of course- its Newcastle on a Friday night!

Agree with you QM- although Songbird has been so impressive throughout her career this looks possibly the best race she has ever been involved in, which is the reason she is odds against.

If she goes and hoses in then we will all tip our hats to her.

Tks guys, but went out like a damp squib in the Warwick bumper...<laugh>

(Must remember to follow Stick in the bumpers!).

Good luck to all having a go at the Breeders' Cup races. I'll just watch, way too difficult for me!

People think you are being arrogant when u say u are 1 of the top judges in europe, just stating facts... id be lying if I said anything else.

If ur not down with that ive got 3 words for ye

IM THE CHAMP

That was my m8 posting lads, im arrogant but not that arrogant

You can be as arrogant as you like when you have a 50% strike rate and they are going in at 12/1 & 9/2. Typically I backed your first one, saw it lose and then left the rest alone. Try harder on the earlier races will ya ;-)
