BREAKING: Liverpool are set to merge the first team and academy set-ups, and will move away from Melwood and could go to Kirkby. [HASHTAG]#lfc[/HASHTAG]

Plans are at an embryonic stage with top level discussions ongoing at [HASHTAG]#LFC[/HASHTAG] but a resolution to join the sites has been taken. (Paul Joyce)

ah ok...

thanks for the snippet.

This is known but I think we were told that melwood was just never big enough to expand so i feel this is a big deal and very positive news that the club is listening to klopp and investing... and its not a small investment at all.

It seems like common sense to me. Having youngsters within the vicinity of the first team is very motivating.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan- United to sell in January
Paul Pogba now to play in defence.

  • Xabi Alonso believes Jurgen Klopp has been successful at Liverpool because he has embraced the culture, tradition and hunger of the club.

The most likely outcome is that the first-team move to Kirkby as there’s sufficient space to redevelop the Academy. However, the ECHO understands that Liverpool are also exploring other potential sites where they could build a new complex.

The costs of any project could be subsidised by the sale of Melwood, plus the Reds could also look to sell naming rights to the training ground. Manchester United struck a similar deal with AON which is worth between £10million and £20million per year.

Its quite simple. while kids of say 17 up got to go to melwood there is a distinct power in guys from say 8 to 12 seeing good pros like firmino etc doing their thing professionally.

A whole new world class complex would be a huge deal.

I'd hope we still do anfield raod end stand as well though.

Hell if klopp only needs 20mil total in transfers cos he's just that good there's going to be a huge wedge of cash on hand within 2 years.
