When you're conceding like we are at the minute the simplest conclusion is that it has to be the goalie.. alas our problems lay much deeper .. since Phelan brought in 'his' signings we are being overrun in midfield .. while there is a player there in Mason he is very lightweight .. Jake has been played in cd and now he has been moved back into midfield seems to be finding it difficult to readjust .. what people must understand is that we lost pretty much 80% of our defence from last year's as well .. young robbo while looking good last year has been shown this year to have serious flaws in his defensive game .. Elmo has always been suspect defensively .. hence why it astounds me that he has persisted with a flat back four .. get back to 3-5-2 .. we haven't got a lot of mobility in midfield but at least with two up top it's gives us options to not only hold the ball up but to put the opposing defence under a little bit of pressure .. lets be honest we are sadly lacking in areas but for now we've got what we've got .. decent managers recognise that .. alas it seems Phelan is looking like a little boy lost at the moment

The problem with being a goalkeeper your, an easy target when things go wrong, how many times do you see players mobbing the keeper after a brilliant save yet an outfield players scores a tap in and everybody over him like a rash, Marshalls having a tough time at the moment, Jak also has grounds to grumble regards being dropped, but a keeper only as good as the team in front off him and lets face it we seem to be playing with no midfield and a lone striker, I know one player that might be happy about Marshall getting all this stick is Mason, I for one look at him on the pitch and think how the hell did spur's con £12.5million out of us for him( if we'd had bought him from Asda, we'd have took him back for a refund by now) . yes there is a big lack of confidence running through the squad at the moment and if you follow the trail of that lack of confidence, you find it leads back to the managers door, a lady sat behind me on Saturday hit the nail right on the head during the second half , at one point a city player was down receiving treatment , nearly all the Stoke players went over to there dugout and gathered around MH, two of ours wandered over for a drink and made no effort to talk to MP or any of the backroom staff, too be honest I'm finding the whole cluster f**k heart-breaking, I don't even think a take over could save us , it would have to be a massive investment in the January transfer window , by someone who knew what they were doing , feels like the full force of Allams revenge is really starting to kick in now.

the players are only as good as the manager can get them to be.
we are missing a coach.

It's not really fair to blame him for the Blackpool debacle, when they were relegated from the Championship they released almost their entire team and tried to complete last season with a squad of players largely on loan. Their most expensive signing was Mark 'always offside' Cullen.
