Of course it was spent poorly, and of course you'd prefer to believe it was all down to Phelan and he was allowed to do whatever he wanted with the budget with no interference. Reality is he had two days to complete a summer of business when all of his and Bruce's targets had gone elsewhere. Oh and Phelan "isn't the old style manager in charge of everything" yet no one has the balls to admit which responsibilities have been taken from him. It's not transfers though honest. Hmmm.
Because burnley along with us will be relegated due to lack of investment Look at palace signing remi and bentenke Stoke with arnatovic and shaquiri Even boro with negredo and valdes Its a different class of recruitment and gives them alot better chance of staying up If you think under investing in the playing side and staying up is doable please list your free transfers youd of signed No getting away from the fact the team that scraped up and were poor in the championship needed big investment yes some smart loans and freebies may of been found but in todays transfer market we needed a big wedge throwing at it to take us to the next level
The frustrating thing is it could have been easy. Our squad we came up with was better equipped as a starting point than Boro or Burnley's. Many of Boro's players are new to the PL and it shows. We only needed a few quality additions, not quantity like we've needed on our previous PL promotions. Then we ****ed it up big time and here we are. Apparently Bruce wanted to get a few big British lads in and make us a bit stronger physically.
It is time for support, and has been for a long time, but it gets harder and harder to really actively support the team with everything that is going on. Even with the best will in the world, when most of us are so angry about the approach from our insipid owners, it doesn't take much to knock the stuffing out of the support, and the displays we've put in over the past 2 months really don't help the situation. It will take a while for a good atmosphere to be generated, and until the Allams go, I can't see any kind of positive atmosphere being maintained for 90 mins at any of our games, especially when 8000 odd people are staying away. Once they finally foxtrot Oscar, I think (hope) we'll see a shift, I'd love to think new owners will re instate concessions, and those disaffected by the current regime will return giving us a fuller and happier ground, when this happens, supporting a team playing the type of football we are now will become easier and more palatable.
The transfer window was a clusterfuck not of his making; I think most of us understand that, we don't need you constantly posting in a vein that makes out we don't. The discussion should be about inept selections, inept formations and, frankly, seriously worrying media exposure. Some are trying to discuss that but you keep diverting it to your hobby-horse.
