5 0 away at Notts County in the mid seventies _ someone had brought a couple of military smoke bombs to the game - half the ground was covered in smoke before the match as was the train on the way home
Speaking of Notts County, I once went there for a league game - New years Day I think - only to find out literally as the train rolled into Nottingham station that it had been called off. That's a really ****e away game right there.
That happened to me at Colchester a few years ago - i'd driven all the way and arrived at the ground to be told the pitch was waterlogged - absolute sickener[/QUOTE
Went to Stoke on train in (i think)1977,got to the ground only to find out the match had been called off before we even left Hull,Still we had a decent day out regardless.
Was that the game that Trevor Sinclair ran us ragged in? Was there also.I went to Blackpool on a Tuesday night in the 90s - got mullered 6-2.
I remember these kids, teenagers, before the game high-fiving each other as it was revealed that David Mail was fit again and in starting line up. Very strange.
Also, the year before, we lost 5-1 there again on a Tues night - think Bamber scored two in about 90 seconds.
I've never been to Dean Court before, but I remember us losing there 6-2 and 5-1 in successive seasons (I'm guessing this has already been mentioned).
I also recall them trashing us at BP (might have been 0-4 or 1-4) when they were under Redknapp and had the likes of Luther Blissett playing from them.
WHU beat us 7-1 in the late 80s/early 90s too.
First game of the season, full of optimism, sunny day. 4-0 down at Oxford by about 25 mins.
Burnley away (when Geo was wrongly sent off) is the most annoying football match I've ever been to, by some distance.
And most days at Turf Moor especially when Mike Jones gave the pen that never was against Stephen Hunt and disallowed a perfectly good Geo free kick and sent Geo off for nothing!!! Was a big factor in our relegation from the Prem!

My worst away day when I'm not a violent man but I could have smacked one of their fans was Donny away in League 1 when we'd just been promoted as had Donny. They paraded the league 2 trophy just in front of the away fans as we'd finished runners up to them the season before. They won 1 nil but Ellison missed a sitter late on which would have shut them up!!! Ashbee absolutely nailed one of their players on the touch line and didn't even wait for the inevitable straight red as he trudged down the tunnel! All in all a day to forget!

Donny were right wind up merchants, I recall a couple of them who were regulars coming onto the old CI site, telling how they'd hired a small aeroplane to do a flypast trailing an inflamatory ''Donny are the Champs'' banner over the KC ...... a good one!
They did, but the police stopped it from happening.
I remember walking back to the car, totally ignoring the wife and son as I was so mad after that game. Probably one of the worst grounds around as well.Worst away game for me was Portsmouth away. Dowie's first game in charge. 2-1 with injury time to play against one of the worst teams in the league and we lost 3-2. Typical City and it was then i knew we were doomed and relegation certainties.
Think one of the most frustrating games ever was the final game of the season at Burnley where we needed to win by 3 goals to go up and won 2-0 (Brian Marwood's last game), a game made even worse by all the mocking blunts fans who had gone there.
Which is the main reason that detest the blunts.

Well yeah, but that one still ranklesSome of us detested them, and Wednesday long before that.![]()
