And most days at Turf Moor especially when Mike Jones gave the pen that never was against Stephen Hunt and disallowed a perfectly good Geo free kick and sent Geo off for nothing!!! Was a big factor in our relegation from the Prem!

5 0 away at Notts County in the mid seventies _ someone had brought a couple of military smoke bombs to the game - half the ground was covered in smoke before the match as was the train on the way home

Speaking of Notts County, I once went there for a league game - New years Day I think - only to find out literally as the train rolled into Nottingham station that it had been called off. That's a really ****e away game right there.

That happened to me at Colchester a few years ago - i'd driven all the way and arrived at the ground to be told the pitch was waterlogged - absolute sickener

Went to Stoke on train in (i think)1977,got to the ground only to find out the match had been called off before we even left Hull,Still we had a decent day out regardless.

Was that the game that Trevor Sinclair ran us ragged in? Was there also.

Almost every away trip to Middlesbrough ranks very badly.

Losing at Sunderland 3-1 I think about 4 seasons ago - someone called Campbell scored against us!!

Was at the West Ham game, our sub that day was the Maori goal machine Herry Ngata; this caused a few problems for the cockney announcer who came out with "on the bench for 'ull today . . . .(very long pause) . . . Henry Newgate" - oh how we laughed. Mind we'd stopped laughing by the time the 7th went in.
Seem to remember that the away game before this one we got dicked 5-1 at Wednesday - not happy days.

Think one of the most frustrating games ever was the final game of the season at Burnley where we needed to win by 3 goals to go up and won 2-0 (Brian Marwood's last game), a game made even worse by all the mocking blunts fans who had gone there.

This was probably my worst away; it still vividly sticks in my memory for all the wrong reasons - Geo sending off, disallowed free kick, unbelievably stupid penalty. The 4-1 hammering at Bolton in 2013 was quite ridiculous too although that was more our incompetence than the ref's.
 
4 nowt at Uddersfelt..following the 3-1 the season before...

Turner scored on his debut for Sunderland against us...

The first time we played at Burnley since I started going was 1971/72. Only 1 coach of us. Pissed it down. Three of us noticed some kiosks behind their Kop selling beer, unusual in those days so we went round and made good use of them. Things got a bit hairy when Waggy went from the half way line, rounded the keeper and slotted it home (Waggy doing something similar st Sunderland a few weeks caused Mackemsvto become highly irate). The three of us jumped up. Then realised the folly of that. A second goal csused uprosr, people were coming out of those wooden seats behind the goal as well. We thought it was going to be dicey but as we somewhat warily made our way out this large Burnley said don't worry, no one wants you lot it is Adamson we want. Itbwasvreported in the papers that the police were so concerned about things Adamson was smuggle out in a laundry basket and put in the team coach.
Last day of that season was poor. Beaten 3-0 at Boro with the usual lack of numbers. Went in a fish and chip,shop in the 90's when my lad was playing in a tournament up there and the walls were covered with huge pictures of John Hickton scoring his hat trick that day. Fair put me off my grub.

I remember a league cup game at Notts County when there weren't that many City fans, considerably less than 1,000 , but Notts County reported with some amazement that despite that they had sold more beer than at any other previous game.

Donny were right wind up merchants, I recall a couple of them who were regulars coming onto the old CI site, telling how they'd hired a small aeroplane to do a flypast trailing an inflamatory ''Donny are the Champs'' banner over the KC ...... a good one!

re. the game you mention, the wind up with the trophy was close to backfiring on them, I was stood just to the side of some of our ''livelier'' fans who were planning to jump over the barrier and take the trophy from the small party carrying it.
 
The worst I've been to is 5-1 away at Forest.

You know you've had a **** day when Dele Adebola notches the fifth.

The 4-1 home debacle of the same season must run it close for the most annoying tag? To this day, I've never seen a worse display of refereeing than the one served up by Martin Atkinson ......... the complete and utter **** him.

Not really one for ''worst aways'' category.

I remember walking back to the car, totally ignoring the wife and son as I was so mad after that game. Probably one of the worst grounds around as well.
