So Fryatt and Simpson cant find the net... Fear not as we will soon have McLean back who never fails to hit the target..... God I must be pissed already
In fairness to Simpson - he had 10 minutes to score... Fryatt had 94. Quite why Pearson left it so late to change things around is anyone's guess.
Fair point, at least Simpson looked lively, as opposed to Adebola who just seemed soooooo sloooooow...
Simpson should have come on instead of Barmby. I thought Adebola played well, he was holding it up well for Fryatt and creating opportunities for others. Fryatt just wasn't on the ball tonight.
45 games to go, everyone's allowed an off day, a lot of positives such as Brady looked good and made a few chances, and Cairney got stuck in well just need to tweak a few things but I think we'll be fine
Are you joking? Our 4 best clear cut opportunities came once Adebola had come off and we had movement up front creating spaces for others to get in behind their back 4. Adebola was slow, lethargic and gets beaten an inordinate amount of times for a "target man".
Oh no question. Everyone has an off day - but it was fairly obvious Fryatt was in trouble tonight, yet he still finished - and Simpson didn't get a chance until the game was slipping away. There should have been more direction from the bench tonight.
Didn't change the system when Adebola went off, just kept booting it up field with nobody getting on the end of it. God only knows what Fryatt was thinking with his two chances took em both one step too far, I would of put my house on him scoring at least one of them. Also surprised NP left it so late to bring Simpson on doesn't say much playing the majority of the second half of our opening home game with one striker does it? Simpson, to be fair, looked good when he came on and I would expect him to start ahead of Adebola from now on, with the big man coming on when impact is needed. overall though I'm pretty dissapointed! they were there for the taking and the whole country watched us flounder in a typically blunt manner.
Missed most of the match unfortunately. From what I did see you coulda, shoulda snatched a point at the end. Is Fryatt still the most frustrating striker ? Hate it cos he works his socks off and is a very likable guy, but is absolute sh1te on 1 on 1's and will need 7 or 8 attempts to score one. Something is wrong with his game and it should be addressed because he could be a 20+ goal a season no prob in this division. Tuff luck fellas. No disrespect to the Blackpool fans but I was hoping you would do one over that gnome Holloway.
Adebola was taken out of the game from minute one, he was far too easy to read and nothing he was doing was working, he's decent at controlling a high ball, but with the ball at his feet he looks cack. Fryatt would normally have buried at least one of those chances, tonight was poor by his standards. I didn't understand Barmby coming on, I think NP really doesn't rate Simpson(in fact, I know he doesn't), I don't get it myself, he looked sharp at the end of last season and very sharp against Liverpool.
Your point about Fryatt, from watching him since he signed for City, i absolutely concur your points... he is such a frustrating player..
Fryatt has always been poor at one-one-ones and yet every time he goes through I forget that and think "He's a goalscorer, he'll defo score." But he actually ****s it up most times.
To be fair I think Simpson is our best bet despite the late missed sitter - we were crying out for a bit more pace up front, Fryatt got clear a few times but their centre backs just seemed to have 1/2 yard on him every time (not helped by a heavy touch on more than one occasion)... Adebola offers some good but occasional hold up / lay off play with his chest but with Fryatt off the pace that wasn't much of a help! Created plenty of chances that gives much optimism - when everyone is up to match pace we'll bag plenty if we play like that - just hope Simpsons confidence isn't hit by his late miss as his mind set seems to be a big part of his game!
