Feel sorry for Durham fans, but hey ho. D1 cricket again next year.

Seems a bit strange that they are given a rescue package , then told they cannot hold test matches ?
Durham have basically been ****ed by the ECB. In fairness I don't think they were likely to bid for any more tests anyway but as I understand it they got into debt fulfilling the commitments imposing on them by the ECB when they became a first class county.

Well, what a turn up, it could be argued that we wouldn't have got relegated without all the bad luck throughout the season and I'm looking forward to next season already with all of our injured players being added to promising youngsters like Alsop, Wheal and Crane.

Funny that it's come out today, because I'd already been planning renewing my membership (and purchasing England v SA ODI tickets) this evening. Makes the purchase that little more sweeter.

On what possible grounds? The rules clearly stated 1 up 2 down. Get over it Kent.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Kent had their best season in the championship for years and just typical it's the year they change the promotion criteria.

I have to kinda agree though Tom and Hampshire should retain their status.

Just make sure you beat those Essex chavs next year. :emoticon-0150-hands

To add insult to injury for Durham, Keaton Jennings has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Durham if they are relegated. Imagine if he ended up at Hampshire!

I feel very sorry for Durham to be relegated in this manner. Wonder if Surrey would have been treated like this should they run foul of the regulations? OK Hampshire fans, how can you avoid relegation next season? We have had the last match win, now this scenario due to another county's financial shortcomings. What is the plot for next season to avoid the drop?

Here's one! Hampshire end up in a relegation position next season but stay up because the team above them are deducted points for having a sub standard pitch in their last game of the season.

Got back from abroad late last night and couldnt believe it when i saw this news ! Good for us, but i do feel a bit for Durham and their supporters. As Bransgrove has said its tough surviving in county cricket at the moment and it could easily be somebody else who copped it like Durham.

Ah right, thanks, was not aware of that.
