good question.

Its difficult.

Brexit may change this but for the UEFA rules man city only have 21 registered players in europe right now cos they cannot meet it.

we need 4 club trained players and 4 association players.

Club trained are players trained by us in accordance with the age and 3 seasons rule and can be any nationality.

I quote:

"The UEFA Home Grown Player rules stipulate that 4 of the designated squad players have to be ‘club-trained’ and 4 must also be ‘association-trained’. A club-trained player is defined as a player who regardless of his place of birth has been registered between the ages of 15 and 21 with his current club for a period of three entire seasons or 36 months. An ‘association-trained’ player fulfils the same criteria but with another club in the same association."

As of now this could be Flanagan, Randall... but gomez needs one more year after this current one to qualify. Ojo would qualify eventually. oyou can't just throw kids at this group either. they must be over 21.

Our club trained is not an issue par se.

Clyne
Ings
Stewart
Milner
henderson
Sturridge

So in actual fact association players are not as valuable now as own club trained players. city spent 49mil on stelring cos he was english... but actually having 4 guys over 21 who you trained is vital now.

LFC just don't have it. We need 4 to have a full CL squad but they equally have to be actually good enough to play in the CL at the same time.

Dont need to think about how many home grown we have, just work out how many non home grown we have as we can only have a max of 17. If we have more than 17 then we're in trouble no mattter if we have 8 or 2 home grown as we'all have to leave a foreigner out

I had high hopes for Ibe, Rossiter and Sinclair, Rossiter especially as he'd been with us the longest and it's nice to see local youngsters coming through. Don't know what goes on behind the scenes though do you?

well... thats ok but the reality is if we were picking a squad right now that list of 6 names i gave as association players would require 2 players to not be registered potentially... if we've 17 top foreign players

Lets try:

1. Karius
2. Mingolet
(ward) might be club trained?

3. Moreno
4. Matip
5. Lovern
6. Klavan
7. Lucas
8. Can
9. Wijnaldum
10. firmino
11. Coutinho
12. Mane
13. Origi
14. Grujic (not really this year mind)

so that leaves 3 spare slots

15.Clyne
16. Lallana
17. henderson
18. Milner
19. ings
20. sturridge
21. stewart

club trained
22. flanagan
23 randall
24 ..... hmmm

I've not put sakho in there as he's gone... so someone misses out in this if i do include him.. probably stewart.

If you don't have the 4 Club trained it seems you can get punished and this actually hurts the HG players more than foreign players almost. If i were trying to get a 25 man squad i'd rather not put those two in.

I should also clarify here this is all about list A.

List A are players who are over 21.

List B is under 21s who have been at club for 2 years. so gomez will meet this. This list is ineffect unlimited if the player qualifies and you can play anyone off it.

sinclair would have met the rules eventually.

rossiter I dunno.. seemed quite injured or there was a contract issue.

Brannagan will qualify if he stays at club.

Worry about t next year if we get into Europe but as long as don't have more than 17 foreign players then they'll all get into squad and then rest is filled with your HG players.

Anybody know why sometimes the text appears with a line through it? There's no option for that in the text box so I can't be choosing it by mistake. <confused>

That's how mods see deleted comments / threads <yikes>

However, in this instance...

Yes there is, its strikethrough, next to bold italics and underlined.

... <ok>

I haven't got that option. Next to bold, italics and underline is text colour then font size and font family.

Doesn't matter if you have the settings or not either, you could type it on word before C&P it across.

On mine it's on the rh end of the toolbar.
3 across from the smilies there's a drop down list headed "insert..." and it's at the bottom of that.
It does this.
If for some reason it's doing it just because it feels like it try highlighting the offending passage then clicking strike-through to cancel it.

Thank you that's very helpful. I just checked it out and the strikethrough is where you said. I couldn't possibly have clicked on that by mistake. I have noticed for about a week now, that what you type isn't always what actually appears as your comment, it's very odd.

RHC has that trouble - whatever he writes mysteriously comes out as a series of expletives.
