From the BBC match report <ok>
    The Maddison touch
The impact James Maddison has made in his short time at Pittodrie is extremely impressive. The teenager tormented St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson throughout the night with a flurry of touches that at times were embarrassing for the Saints player.

At 19, his touch on the ball was immense and his game awareness was a delight to watch.

His loan spell from Norwich City is only until January, but Dons fans can be reassured boss Derek McInnes will be looking to extend that until the end of the season. :emoticon-0145-shake :emoticon-0145-shake

Thanks Cromer, I'd read the article on my tablet, but my laptop is churning through the latest Windows 10 updates (takes about an hour, so make sure your PC/Laptop is plugged in when doing it), so couldn't post it.
Really seems as though AN has signed an extraordinary talent and as much as I was lambasting AN for letting him go on loan to the Dons, I think it was very much JM's own decision.
The $64,000 question is - who would get dropped to allow JM to play - I'm glad I'm not the manager!!!! <ok>

We need to wait and see the form of our other competing players and if he still looks unlikely to get game time, loan him out again. If possible to a champioship side, to further raise his competative level. Don't get me wrong, he sounds like he is gonna be some player and already could add something to our 1st XI. But I'm hoping that Wes, Naismith and Pritchard are all playing so well that he still wouldn't get a look in.

    Bah!

Unfortunately General, I see an issue with your suggestion - what if he does move to a loan for a Championship side who then get promoted and we don't???
Hence why he's elected to play in the SPL, as I know he said at the time that he didn't want to play in League 1.

If he continues to set Aberdeen and the SPL in general on fire, I think he'll return to us in January.
After all, when Naismith has joined Sunderland for £10m, we'll have a vacancy in that position.

I'm not suggesting a team at the top end, by January there will be several clubs that will be well removed from the promotion picture like Blackburn, if we loaned him to them, he gets experience at the required level, playes against a number of our rivals and hopefully takes points out of their bids for promotion. I think the lads mustard and look forward to seeing him in Y&G but something has to give for that to happen, maybe in January we will manage to either sell or loan Naismith out? But that will come down to the player too and having just moved his family down I doubt he is eager to pull up the anker and move again.

    bah!

Not trying to barge in here, but I'm assuming you mean 'anchor' and are continuing with your naval punnery? I have to tug my forelock at your efforts.

Well, I salute you for originality - how long did you have to trawler round to come up with that.
Oh, and you spelled looking with a shingle 'o'.
(Tugging the forelock is the same as doffing one's cap, a sign of approval. Nothing smutty <ok>)

To get away from nautical silliness, he has to return to us in Jan. Is he better than Wes? is he more productive than Wes.? Is he more valuable to the team than Wes/ we wil not know having him play for Aberdeen, or any lower championship club. It seems the lad has enormous potential, we must explore this, hopefully to our benefit.

Depends which Wes turns up !! But Wes isn't going to get any better where as Maddison is.

Two more goals for the prolific machine that is Tony Andreu yesterday.
Already a favourite at Dundee Utd, in much the same way Maddison is going at Aberdeen <ok>

IMO, much will depend on how well both Wes and Pritchard play until January. Wes has improved this year and bulked up his upper body to help him ride challenges. Like any creative player, though, his performances will vary and that will be true for Pritchard as well. Naismith offers a different option at either AM or WL, but I would like to see Maddison back as an impact sub to begin with. Both Wes and Naismith are over 30 and will tire as this long season goes on and a choice between Pritchard and Maddison to come on fresh against tiring defences would be a good thing.

I agree, Wes had a good Euros and has started the season fairly well, but to have that option + learning from an experienced player should set Norwich up for success for a while to come
