But do you think it blends with the Old Town?

Your attitude towards Hull says more about you than it does about this city, my bitter old mucker.

The Louvre seems to do OK with a similar situation...

I find it grotesque and incongruous given where it stands and all this talk of Old Town

Well not entirely ... I'd say we have in common that we've both been on the decline for many years. The difference is that I know it.

Wasnt it Bunkers who started off like this awhile ago. Getting more and more irate as people questioned his stance? Then he demanded to leave ...

Yeah, but as I recall it people became more and more irate with my stance too, so don't give me your crap about how you all agree with each other. I know no other message board where people argue with each other as they do here .. and they are supposed to be on the same side! But anyway, they wouldn't delete my account. So when I feel like arguing I come back and make a point! So what's your's?

This is definitely one you're not going to win. Withdraw gracefully?

Old has to sit alongside new, nothing stays the same forever.

You mention Rotterdam, but that has some of the most garish new architecture in Europe.

I think we need to keep in mind that some of the areas we speak about are no longer working areas, and haven't been for decades. What's wrong with making them leisure spaces? You can't make whole swathes of a City centre a real life museum.

But it's easy just to dismiss something out of hand. Many people enjoy these areas, and look to the future.

Do you assert that Hull has not been on the decline for a very long time, still is, and there is no outlook other than more of the same? If so, please do elaborate

No. I'd call it a satisfying juxtapositioning, or a nice contrast.

Bunkers, when you referred to 'the ****hole you came from', were you referring to Hull?

If so, I will not engage with you further on this as pre-conceived, deep-set negativity like that is often too far ingrained to be rational. IMO.

Hull is in the best place it's been for years
Lots of investment in the area
A thriving cultural scene, with some amazing festivals and events
    A successful football team
National and international recognition (Guardian did a nice piece over the weekend for example)
And some beautiful developments re energising the city

    That do?
