Good points DH. Canos looks the part and I've always wanted Pritchard at the club. Not sure about Oliveira so will be good to see what he can do. Holding onto Klose, Brady and Pinto were essential and we did that BUT ........

We missed the opportunity to clear out some dead wood (Whittaker, Turner) and we are now holding onto players who don't want to be here (Lafferty, Naismith) while missing out on targets that our competitors have snaffled up and thus strengthened their squads with.

Is our squad stronger than at the start of the window = yes, is is as strong as it could be = probably not, are the squads at Wolves, Villa, Newcastle etc stronger = most definitely. That's the reality (Sir Talking Donkey) ......
Not sure that the Villa and Wolves squads are better, though I'd agree Newcastle probably is but then they've spent £150m over the last year.

Once prospective players find out about the Chipp Inn, they'll be fighting to come here. I'm told James Maddison's first question at Aberdeen was how are the Chippys up here. I can vouch for them from personal experience!

I say, steady on! Much as I would like to entice better players through the happiness of their wags, the Chip Inn is sacrosanct!

Feck 'em, let them continue to dine at inferior eateries in the metropolis of their choice! <ok>

I'm not convinced about him Rick, but as you say, time will tell.

As a few others have intimated, his body language looks all wrong - he's just not the player I was expecting. Well, we have little choice now but to play him due to lack of alternatives, so fingers crossed he comes good.
I think we've got numerous alternatives. By my reckoning we still have 9 attacking midfielders.

Did you show Dave the new Nandos when he came to Norwich?

If we get Chamakh I won't complain, he's a free agent so there isn't much risk and I'd be more than happy to give him time.

Overall I wouldn't say this transfer was a total distaster, I was only disappointed we loaned out Maddison as I feel he would have improved our team.

Totally desperate? Are we?! We have Jerome, Oliveira, Lafferty and Naismith. I wonder which teams would swap their strike force with ours?
What? Lafferty doesn't feature and Naismith has been 'poor' in his all round game - but especially as a frontman <yikes>
That leaves two.
Who the heck would be envious of that at the end of a transfer window?

To be fair, the goal isn't to have a set of strikers that Burton are envious of, its to have players those challenging at the top want.

Villa - McCormack, Kodija, Gestede, Agbonlahor.
Newcastle - Mitrovic, Perez, Gayle, Murphy
Wednesday - Hooper, Fletcher, Forestieri, Joao, Nuhiu
Derby - Weimann, Vydra, Bent, Wilson, Blackman

Personally I'm casting envious looks at all of them, and I haven't included Wolves as i don't know their players at all.

Admittedly I think that our approach relies more on midfield goals than those teams, but there's no way our firepower ranks above 6th in the division.

Even a nothing team like Fulham: Martin, Woodrow, Smith, Aluko, Ayite

Brighton, another decent selection: Murray, Hemed, Baldock, Murphy.

I'd put us third behind Newcastle and Villa. And they've each spent £60m.
