Agree with this. Once again there has been over-expectation, IMO. When the window opened, most felt that it would be difficult to sign PL quality players now that we are in the Champs. Even McCormack (1 goal in 6 games for Villa) and Rhodes are Champs strikers. Oliveira is at least that but could even turn out to be a Michu type find, but let's give him a chance before we write him off. Pritchard and even Canos are potentially PL quality players and could turn out to be very good signings. Yes, ILD, I do think Naismith is a good player - Moyes wouldn't have wanted him for the PL if he wasn't. Like others, I wanted another striker in and am disappointed that we didn't get one, but I don't think that makes this a disastrous window. We still have a strong squad, much stronger than the one which was promoted, and we will be in the fight for promotion as the current 7 injured players return to the squad. There you go, Cromer, time to hit the ignore button! :emoticon-0105-wink:

Pretty much agree with this, except for Naismith.

You may feel he's a good player, and indeed he may be, but he hasn't shown that with us. Seems totally disinterested and not at all happy to be here. Jusat my opinion of games I've seen. No way should he still be picked on merit.

Him going and Maddison staying would have been ok with me.

Time will tell with Naismith, gandy, but we need goals and I think he has the potential to get 10-12 this season. He has 1 in 4 games so far, so is on target for that. I don't see him as a striker, but as a goal-scoring AM which is something we have lacked. Wes is a great facilitator, but he doen't score enough, IMO. In Naismith and Pritchard we now have that potential. When we were last promoted, Jerome was supported by goals from Hooper and Grabban. Oliveira will help with that by providing another striker option, but we're going to need more goals from midfield and we now have players who can do that.

Not sure how you count Olsson as one of our best players, he might be our best / only LB, but that doesn't make him one of our best players. Maybe you meant to say Howson instead. Why can't Maddison play for us in the Championship at 19. Rooney played in the PL at 16, Alli at 17. If Naismith had gone I'm sure we would have kept Maddison. I'm hoping Naismith will go in the January window to coincide with Maddison coming back. At least we know why AN has been playing Naismith, he was hoping someone would buy him, at least I hope that's the reason. I think generally speaking the business we have done this window has been good, the trouble is we haven't done enough and we haven't got rid of enough dross. Clearly not having a CEO hasn't helped, but I also think AN is really struggling like last season to decide on his best team structure and tactics. I suspect the Oliveira signing was stretched out in order to mask our inability to do last minute deals, however from the outside yesterday still appears to be a total shambles.

Sorry General but must take issue with this. Our scouting team, who seem to unfairly get flack when we don't sign players, seem to have identified the targets, AN & the board have failed to get the signings over the line.

Because that's the way AN wants us to play. Truth is not all our players are bad passers / players its just coincidence that none of them seem to have played to their full potential for many months. It's absolutely nothing to do with the manager.

Well, based on recent performances (indeed, most of his outings since joining) he's 'soiled goods' in the shop window which nobody other than Moyes, presumably for old times sake, was remotely interested in.
    And I can't say I blame them :(

There's no loan window any more. So we're stuck with a huffy Lafferty, a crocked Jerome, an untried Oliveira and an off the radar youngster Morris.
Unless you wish to include a Sunderland-bound-until-it-all-went-pear-shaped Naismith, who's attitude and body language suggest the next window can't come soon enough! :emoticon-0106-cryin

Apparently the Naismith deal fell through because of wages.

Find it hard to believe that we are paying more than Sunderland.

We're not paying more than Sunderland Kemp, just that Naismith thought he was worth more than Moyes did. Or a greedy agent in this case.

I'm not convinced about him Rick, but as you say, time will tell.

As a few others have intimated, his body language looks all wrong - he's just not the player I was expecting. Well, we have little choice now but to play him due to lack of alternatives, so fingers crossed he comes good.

At Ipswich Naismith played like he was wearing bowling shoes.
Spent half the game on his arse.

Come on Rick...Naismith has had MORE than enough time to make is mark! The only marks he's made on the pitch are the ones where he keeps throwing himself to the ground.

He once allegedly banged three Swedish birds in a hotel in Vegas.

If he's maintained that level of fitness, he may be ok?

I bet his agent told him to stay at Norwich, where he's first on the team sheet, practically bullet proof, the managers favourite and building up his pension pot. Cushy number if ever I saw one.
