Apparently, Mason is the 5th club record signing we've bought from Spurs (Marney, Gardner, Huddlestone, Livermore & Mason). Edit - Beaten to it.
No tin hat needed - we've all got opinions Maguire looks off the pace as he never has a run in the team. You can't judge on a 5 minute cameo. As a player he defends as well as Curtis but has twice the ability on the ball. Rewatch Arsenal away in the cup to see how he plays. There was a point against Man Utd when the ball came back to Curtis and he noncientally kicked the ball in touch as he didn't have the confidence to do anything with it. I love Curtis by the way but think given a run Harry could be our best defender.
Gradel would be a decent option - pace on the right. Snodders has little pace but good feet and the best delivery in the league = good balance.
Mason is an absolutely quality addition. We all said we need quality. We had a very good squad as it was and now it's getting stronger, not just bigger. We've had to pay for Mason but who should care a ****? You have to pay out for anyone worth while. I'd rather spend £13m on him than try get by with some £3m Unknown from Belgium or somewhere. An equally good full back, winger and striker and I'd say we've done great business.
One of the best things about the new signings is I don't see them disrupting the group. Mason is mates with the 3 ex players. Keane will know Phelan well and probably a few other of the youngsters. Marshall will link up well with the 3/4 scots in the team . Harmony should stay.
Out of all of them I really want Henriksen in. I think to would be a mistake financially not to sign him as I think two good seasons here will have people sniffing to sign him at a big profit.
My first exposure, so to speak, to Harry was in the semi at Wembley, Willy. I honestly thought he was miles off the pace there, and nothing that I've seen since has changed my mind. Agreed, very good on the ball, but potentially Wayne Brown-esque when up against the best in the business (sorry Wayne). (And mods - can I claim a prize for getting 'exposure to Harry', 'semi' and 'Willy' in the first sentence and still being on topic please?)
His lack of pace is an insurmountable handicap at Premier league level. His tendency to grab hold of opponents is also a major problem in today's climate. If Dawson and Bruce weren't injured then I'm sure we would have taken the "silly money" offered for him. I agree he is a good squad player, as is Alex Bruce, but a decent back up centre half to Davies, Dawson and now Livermore is required in my view.
The Diame hole needs filling (Henriksen), a right winger (Gradel) and another striker (God knows/loan?) should be the 3 for tomorrow...perhaps a RB/CB cover on loan too.
Intrigued who the two or three tomorrow are And did i just hear sky sports say weve still accepted a bid from villa for hernandez????? Mason top signing upgrade on meyler and huddlestone Marshall upgrade on mcgregor Keane i think will prove alot of you wrrong and become a decent striker if only as backup for us Pleaseeeeee Fosu mensah Knockhaert Austin
