I'd like to think we won't sell Reed (although I'd be very open to loaning him out), but if we did, then getting a replacement for him before 11pm Wednesday is really not going to be top of my wishlist.
(Not that I am at all against us signing another CM, especially a DM, whether Reed stays or goes. I just wouldn't see any desperate need to replace someone who is currently 6th in line)

In my opinion Reed is a better DM than all of those probably bar Hojbjerg
Only Romeu, Reed and possibly Hojbjerg are really fit to play the bottom of a diamond. And Hojbjerg is probably better at CM.
IF there are doubts about Romeu, then we need to make a move for another DM. Which might leave Reed without a place in the squad. If that's the case, then it might be better to loan him or sell him.
But not in the opinion of the past three football managers who see what he actually has to offer every day in training.
Don't want to do the lad down, but it would seem there's something missing somewhere.
I was answering the post above regarding who AR10 was inferring. No knowledge at all but had a great season last year and very much a Southampton type signing so wouldn't be shocked
Honestly, I'd be awfully close to starting Reed over Romeu in one of our upcoming matches to see if he's any better of a fit, so I hope we don't loan him out without bringing a DM in.
I reckon we need the following
Attacking central midfielder
Striker
Centre back to replace/push fonte
Right back as Martina was off so deemed not good enough
Defensive midfielder
Then we are ok.
As we won't get that lot I would go for AMC as it is critical to Pauls system and centre back to replace fonte

How many DMs do we have? Romeu and Reed. We have other players that can play there, but it's not ideal. Arguably Romeu isn't even (on current form) suited to the base of the diamond. If we're going to persist with the diamond, which we have no reason to believe we won't, I definitely wouldn't be letting Reed go without bringing in a DM. I'm not sure Reed would be suited to the base of the diamond either, but we're too light in DMs to let him go without replacing him imo.
I've always liked Reed when he's had a chance in the first team, but he's not going to improve without game time. Tough decisions to be made.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say "I Told you so" but I'd be a fool if I did that after 3 Prem games, so I won't
