I think he's thinking long term, West Brom might not play the most attractive football, but they've been solid for years. We, on the other hand, are still a basket case despite the results and as a newly promoted team would represent a risk.

Rodriguez is currently odds on to join West Brom, and 5/1 to join us...

Between us we need to stick a grand on to get our odds down and make us look like favourites to sign him.
Then all the other strikers we are after will sign thinking they better get in before Rodriguez signs.

Think outside the box...unless your a striker than you have to think inside the box.

I will start the ball rolling with ....50p

It's a loan, not a permanent transfer, he doesn't have to think beyond this season. He'd stand out more in our team which is actually better for his long term prospects.

I was thinking longer term as in this season. He's guaranteed to be a starter in this team, but you just know he'd rather take the cushy mid table option than come here.

    Why do you know that?

I feel like players prepared to go out on loan would be pretty desperate to start the majority of the time they're out, as they'll need to impress their parent club and convince them to keep them on, or else attract suitors elsewhere. I don't think he'd be happy to go to West Brom and be sat on the bench, coming on at 70 minutes to play left back, or centre mid, or wherever Pulis shoves him.

There is no guarantee WBA will finish mid table but TBH they probably have more chance than us:emoticon-0101-sadsm

What have you got against goalkeepers? Why don't they get a mention?

I just don't see what our selling point is, he'll get plenty of game time at WBA anyway and it's a much more attractive proposition than us. This is where Phelan and Ternant make thier money, because they have to convince him they aren't.

He'd be starting XI for us because he'd slot in for Dio on the left wing, I don't think he'd start for WBA. I also think with Phelan's style we're far more conducive to strikers scoring goals, which he'd be keen to start doing again. We've looked dangerous from set pieces in both games, as well as on the counter in open play which allows him to make use of his space. We have seven goals in our first three games. All selling points I would hope the club are using on him.

    On the other hand.................

    http://readwestbrom.com/2016/08/25/rodriguez-loan-move-unlikely/

According to the Birmingham Mail, Jay Rodriguez is looking likely to join Hull on a season-long loan, as opposed to West Brom.
The report says that Burnley have not agreed a deal with Southampton, but Hull are looking likely.
West Brom. were thought to be closing in on the signing of Rodriguez, but this looks unlikely now.
Rodriguez is currently fourth choice striker at Southampton, with Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Nathan Redmond all ahead of him in the pecking order.
This has led to very limited game time, with Tony Pulis now looking to bring him to the Hawthorns – where he would get far more minutes in the Premier League. However, he now looks set for this at Hull, instead.
The 27-year-old still has three years left on his contract and Claude Puel sees him as part of his long-term plan at Southampton. However, they want the forward to get some regular game time to build his fitness and form.
