This is what I really don't understand, not having the name on the badge has the potential to damage the promotion of the club, having the name on the badge can't damage anything. Regardless of anyone's preference with the badge design, why on earth would you risk doing something potentially damaging, when there's a completely risk free option? It's just common sense.

I wouldnt. Not cos of the money, but what it would do to you to work for them. Danny Pratt was one of the biggest - literally and metaphorically - City fans I knew. Just a few years after landing his 'dream role' with the club it got so bad he didnt even bother watching the games, he used to just sit in the press room watching telly, and then eventually left to take a role at Lester. Such was his disillusion with the club after getting close to the inner workings of it.

IF this new badge had been introduced after we had been in the premier league for a few years, IF non of the name change stuff had taken place and IF it had been marketed properly it could have been seen as visionary and thinking outside of the box.

However it was done because of the name change attempt, its nothing more than a petty, vindictive, childish kick in the nuts to the supporters who campaigned against the name change.

IF we ever get new owners the easiest way to start off on a good foot will be to start using the name of the club Hull City in all its marketing and promotional material. Who knows maybe in the future a badge like this could be used but now is not the time for it.

It takes huge market penetration and breadth on a global scale which would literally take decades for a global logo to become recognisable as a brand. We'll never be in that position, despite what our resident 'Visionary' may think.

You look at the Nike example OLM gave or Apple. I bet there's barely a sector that isn't touched by Apple from business's with the Mac, sports and fitness with the watch/iPhone/iPod. Home computing with an Ipad. iTunes for music and entertainment downloads.

They are a huge global brand with huge financial backing and enormous brand recognition through market penetration and distribution.

This would not work for a relatively small Premier League club in East Yorkshire who removed the name before anyone outside of the UK even knew about us. How will they now get people outside of Hull to know we are Hull City? It simply won't work, not now and not after a few seasons in the PL.

I have seen us in our lowest ever FL and PL attendances......I have seen us in China......I have travelled half way around the world to see us in the Play Off final..........so no I don't go just to watch football.......I go to great lengths to support City.

But for me owners, names, badges, seats, managers, schemes are not high on my agenda compared to turning up on a Saturday.

My car insurance policy only has this on it and an image of a heart. The company is only mentioned in the signature and in very small print on the bottom. The letter includes "Thanks for insuring with LV="

Somewhere along the way, a marketing professional has come up with with this and they have ran with it. So there must be something in the idea.

The name was not put on the badge because the owners wanted to change the name and this half way house badge was the solution to the pre ordering of the shirts before the season started. It was a temporary fix (IMO) but it has been kept in place. I do not expect the shirts to be changed in any way shape or form this season.

I do not expect that we will see a return of the old badge either and I hope that the supporters will be involved with the design of the next one. At least the badge isn't the old one with "AFC" and "The" removed.
