Almost certainly- he will bemoan the fact that Stoke usually get penalised but it was a penalty. I've never heard Hughes say any penalty given against him was correct.

Mike Dean continues to be the referee in the PL who gives penalties for shirt pulls. Hopefully this season more follow his lead.

It's great that he's penalised Shawcross, but when he does it against Utd or Liverpool or any of the other top sides will be the day he gets my respect. It's easy to do it to Stoke.

Smalling will be sent off every game.

But that's the thing though isn't it? We all know it won't happen. He's been getting away with it for ages and so did Skrtel.

That may well be the case. But I don't see other referees pulling Shawcross up for it. I don't care who it is that Dean is giving penalties against, he still gets my immense respect for being the one referee who is open to giving them.

Why the hell was Sterling marking Shawcross anyway? And he wasn't looking at the ball at all - it was a definite penalty.

I agree it needs to be cut out, but what sterling did there was minimal. The only clear pen in this game is the Allen incident.

Which I would be absolutely fine with me. As Tom says, players would soon cut it out. I do agree though that the Allen incident was a penalty.
