14683938.Saints_optimism_over_Fonte_deal Well thats that done then.by jose Also,it seems i have ballsed up that link
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/146...er_Fonte_deal/ Here you go, all we need now is a video of Les Reed saying he expects Jose to sign a spanking new deal soon and we will know......he's definitely off. Clearly that's been leaked by the club as the rumours reach a critical head of steam.... I must admit I'm not entirely on course with 'assessing the squad in the heat of the Premier League battle', three 5-0 defeats just before the transfer deadline isn't going to help much
As the manager is only part of the transfer committee, surely Les will be pushing hard to add to the squad as it looks very lightweight to me and lacking goals
I think the squad looks short of 2 or 3 players to most of us, except Puell according to The Echo. Makes me laugh that whoever gives this info to The Echo, is putting it on the lap of Puell. In all seriousness, how long does he need to realise we are a couple of players short? Just smells of the usual LR tactic, aka, video before Koeman left etc etc.
Thankyou. Yep agree.we still need more players. If it stays as it is we are just a couple of injurys from a real struggle
I certainly don't think we'll splash the cash on a CB. If we need one, we'll probably buy a world class CB and not spend very much at all. cf Virgil Vin
Not sure if it's just me but that link doesn't take me to the Fonte story. This one does though: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/14683938.Saints_optimism_over_Fonte_deal/?ref=mr&lp=1
Be nice for Fonte to sign an improved contract, but makes no difference to us if he doesn't as we are not extending the length of the contract. We are just being respectful...as easy to make him stick to a lower paid contract as to a higher paid one. Or not.
It did but they've obviously completed a little 'rearrange' since I linked to it. Which of course is nice bad practice because potential visitors following from posted links will give up.
Absolutely, but when it gets raised as a "negative" (or slight one) then there really is a sympathetic voice for the Board saying "damned if they do and damned if they don't"
Agreed, but this is the man wanting to leave, nothing the Board have done wrong. Also Imps, remember the context of my posts on this thread (apart from my first one).... They are about me defending the Board with those suggesting in various ways negativity to them.. This is all about Fonte and his decisions and nothing the Board can or could do about it really. I am responding to all those that have hinted negativity towards the Board. I reserve the right to continually counter those who somehow feel the Board are at fault here. This is down to Fonte's greed or ambition (see, I'm giving people an option there) and not down to the Board.
Or... Leicester winning the league and Wigan winning the FA Cup has shown people anything is possible.. Always a flip side
I will be pissed off with him if he leaves. And just to be clear (as you quoted me) I haven't mentioned him being loyal to us once.
Again impsaint, just for clarity, my point is that it is the player's fault and not the Boards. We are what we are and me more than almost any other poster has shown that over the last 5 years of posting and expectation. I'm not the one moaning that we don't win things or spend zillions of pounds. My whole point is that people are blaming the Board and that is wrong. The Board have done and shown every possible effort to make this club look like a winning club and in the end they've been stuffed by agents, players and tapping up. All my posts here are to tell those complaining or having slight digs at the Board that it is not their fault. You seem to be responding to my posts on the "I understand why Fonte would go" but that is not the real context of my posts. For me I am just trying to put the "blame" with the players as I genuinely believe the Board can not do anything else. Please note that I don't see you moaning or being negative at the Board, but other posters. I think that unfair.
You really think the Board could have done something different for a player that they already had given a new contract within the last 12 months and allegedly have an agreement in place to keep him the club' highest paid player? You are also the person who questioned all the contract renewals. Now I'm not sure what you mean by "acting quicker" before the Euros, but are you suggesting a further new contract? That sort of slaps in the face all your discussion with Onionman this last two days!! Please tell me what else they could have done then. For all the "fair questions being asked" I haven't read one offer of a possible action the Board could have taken, with exception of NZ who said adopt a "don't sell" policy.
No nothing missed. Just some dickhead taking up all the pages trying to defend the club for no apparent reason...
Its probably just me, but I find I'm becoming more and more disillusioned with modern day footer shenanigans ie Koeman, Fonte etc.etc? Why someone would go on Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat or whatever other social media tools exist to make snide references to a move away when he's signed a new contract only 5 minutes ago is totally beyond me? The club then reacts by offering him a new improved contract and the World now waits for his next pronouncement via social media, hoping desperately for a positive coded message?. I'd prefer the club to make a stand and turn down offers that may or may not arrive, and tell the player to get over it. If Man U are really after a CH I'd be more worried about VVD being on their radar.
