Il tell you what pisses me off about most of these sales . Its the fact that we are selling out best players to teams that we are supposedly rivals for the top part of the table.selling our best players every year or two will ensure we never become a top 6 side.thats a sobering and depressing thought
I don't blame the club at all.

In terms of the player I get that one - he's young and has the opportunity to become a global superstar. It's not about the money for us.

Jose though is our captain, he has a responsibility. He can go to United and have a year where he earns, what, a million more than he would here, then sit on the bench. That's a huge amount to most people, but not a huge amount to a footballer. With the connection he has to this club, he should be the man leading us into Europe, not pissing off at the first sniff of a few extra quid.

Very disappointing.

Well said, very disappointing. The pull of manure and their filthy lucre and Mourinho. They are bloody made for each other!

If this does happen then I won't be wishing him well and being all understanding. He's got loads of money, is guaranteed a start, has been with us since league 1, plays for Portugal, is idolised and is captain with Saints. With Utd he won't play as often, won't play Champions League this season (he probably won't play next season if they do qualify) and will probably lose his Portugal place. He will be even richer though.

With all that said.i will still support whoever pulls on that shirt, regardless of how good he is.we have come back from losing our best players before and fingers crossed we can do it again. This season for me is going to be a slight downward curve i think.

We can call it a transition year like Pardew says Palace are in. Aka a year you re-build.

Whichever way you cut it, it's bitterly disappointing after going into the summer with what looked like a settled management team, settled XI minus a few known sales. Now we're having yet another meltdown. Oh well. Coyr

Don't shoot me down to quickly but have we not bred a culture whereby players begin to feel too good for us on the back of the fact that we have sold our best players for the last 3 years?

I wonder if the deal will go through at the weekend after we have played Utd.

Edit - if he is on the bench again l would be very suspicious.

We couldn't of stopped them if we tried. Players want the easy way to win things, plus all that extra cash comes in handy.

Im thinking we tell these players that if they have a good season or two with us then a "big" club will come in for them

Not true. The real problems are:

1) We aren't based in a big city, like West Ham etc.

2) We buy up and coming players that haven't yet reached their potential. So they have more of a chance of out growing us. Instead of other teams that buy most players that are at their prime.

3) We can't offer crazy wages (even though we have offered Fonte close to £100k).

4) We are not yet seen as a club that will always get in Europe.

If he goes, he goes. He's 33, we'll get a good wedge for him.

Additionally (I suspect, at least) the club may well know that if he goes we might need a replacement. It may just have crossed their minds. Possibly. If not, with bit of luck they'll read this forum and suddenly realise that they need to sign someone. I'm pretty sure that's how they do it.

I'll keep my powder and feelings dry for now. I will say this though. Come on Puel, play him Friday night and let you united have a really good look at him.

He's not what they want at all.

Agent's are scum and I think I'm
Going to start a campaign to have them shot. Fran's new Olympic sport would be a good start.

Ok here we go.

Tell that smug twat in charge of Manure that we'll only do one deal. A straight swap for Mata. We should then pay Mata 150k a week just to **** the traitor off...

... Powder maybe not quite as dry as I think :(
