Ah I missed that one. Probably skimmed past it when all the arguments started. So nothing definite yet. He'd be a mug to go in my opinion but we will see if Man Utd are willing to pay Saints premiums...that's if he actually wants to go.
Not close for me. Williams is good, but Fonte is miles better. Better touch, better passing, more confident on the ball, better leader, less mistakes. Better organiser, more vocal. Williams is one of those players that makes last ditch tackles, Fonte is the player that positions himself slightly better to not be in that position. There's a number of reasons we finished 7th, and they were bottom half - we were better than them, and Fonte is a big part of that. Not even mentioning what he has brought to the dressing room, which it's obvious is huge.
Not really in tune with the Swansea dressing room, since I don't follow them that closely. But isn't Williams Swansea's Fonte equivalent? Signed with them in League One. Been there many years. Big part of them achieving two promotions. Appointed captain for his contributions, etc. I don't know if Man U or Everton actually care that much about their impact on their previous teams, but to the extent they do I don't see where one is better than the other.
I've never said that they should care. I'm saying we should care. I admit I've had quite a bit of red wine at this point, so my grammar has gone slightly squiffy. But what I'm trying to say is that, Fonte is much better than Williams, and should be worth more money.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ansfer-news-and-rumours-on-sunday---live-upd/ According to the Telegraph, Raphael Verane remains first choice for United, although they have opened informal talks with Southampton. What are informal talks...having Ralph round for a cup of tea?
He's not for sale. But but if he forces the issue they will give a price. He's pissed me off a fair bit so far. Want this resolved in the next 48.
That's my hope. I think if the club stand firm, Jose will eventually settle and accept it, enjoy his status as a Euro Champion because right now I find it odd that he's not even given himself to have the proper hero's welcome back that he should have had. That in itself has disappointed me, because I wanted to be able to give him a big shout and treat him like a champion and it is a little telling that he hasn't quite realised that the fans probably wanted to do that.
He's had two ovations at the preseason games....he must be aware how proud we were of him and would still like to be.
There is nothing informal about having Ralph round for a cup of tea... in fact it wouldn't be just one cup of tea; you might need to have that meeting in India!
I kind of hope Fonte leaves. It would be the final nail in the coffin of my delusion that it is possible for a player to love this club and to mean it when he says positive things about it. I could finally develop that hard skin which would allow me to see players as simple chess pieces... I guess I am an oddball as I have never had much interest in money, which is rhe thing you guys keep saying is all important. I, personally, would prefer adoration and a settled homelife for my family. It is, obviously, wrong of me to think twice my yearly wage (and then some) every week could possibly be enough.
I'd rather be a club legend like MLT than a twaty millionaire like.......insert any name here. Still believe in dreams.
