Being linked to James Rodriguez. I think he and Sanchez would really click, they can both play an attacking midfield / winger / wing forward role.
And what about Ozil? Rodriguez does not like to play out wide and basically wants to play in Ozil's posistion, spending huge money on Rodriguez would be utterly moronic, when we have to buy a CB and CF.
Amazing player but.. this would be typical Wenger. We need a CF and CB ..so he buys yet another midfielder.
Arsenal 2016-2017 ..pass..passs...pass... --------------------Cech-------------------- ----Xhaka---Coquelin---Wilshere---- --Carzorla--Ozil--Elneny--Ramsey-- ----------Sanchez---James-------------
The Times is reporting that AFC are close to a £20million deal for Mustafi Twitter is going into meltdown with rumours about Mahrez
-------------------------Cech------------------------- Bellerin----Mustafi-----Koscielny----Monreal ---------------Xhaka-------Carzorla--------------- ---Mahrez-------------Ozil------------Sanchez-- ------------------------Giroud------------------------ Bench: Iwobi, Ramsey, Wellbeck, Wilshere, Chambers, Mertesacker, Ospina. If we do sign Mahrez we may as well sell Chamberlain/Walcott and use the money towards a centre forward. Iwobi has emerged as a potentially World Class young player and Joel Campbell has also overtaken both the Englishmen in our lineup.
Genuine question: is Rodriguez all that? Scored a blinding goal in the World Cup to make him flavour of the month, one in three for Madrid and similar before that is good but he doesn't come across to me as someone who would suit the PL.
That is a good question. It also seems like it would take a lot more money to convince Real to sell than he is actually worth. I still maintain we should be going all out to get Lukaku - we can offer CL footie and he'd be the main man upfront for us - whereas with Chelsea no European footie at all and they've already got Costa and that Belgian dude.
I am really surprised that we haven't sold anyone yet! I know there are rumours of a Szczesny deal being agreed with Roma, but I'm surprised Debuchy seems to be going out on loan instead of either a) being sold or b) staying as CB cover and RB cover. One of Oxo or Theo should be sold and a striker brought in, at least in a sensible world. We've then got Xhaka, Santi, Coq, Ramsey, Ozil, Iwobi, Wilshere, Zebelam (sp?) all competing for 3 spots - so you'd think Wilshere would be under threat as well...
what 3 spots are those? CM? Not sure you can include Iwobi as he's been on the wing, but deffo got loads of people in the central 3, you missed out Elneny and Oxo also sometimes gets plonked there
Not sure Lukaku would suit your style at all to be honest mate. His first touch isn't the best and he would get lots of balls to his feet from your midfield, which would end up in wayward touches and a loss of possession. His runs are good, he is decent in the air, and he has a great shot on him, but he is more suited to a team like Everton to be honest. I don't want him back at Chelsea either, at least not for the price Everton are asking (which is around £70m apparently), and Wenger would sooner eat his own arse than drop £70m on one player!
I meant the 3 spots in the centre - ie the CM, DM and AM positions - so say for example we have Xhaka, Santi and Ozil as starters, we also have the others I listed who can play in those positions. Good point about Elneny, I totally forgot about him. I've seen Iwobi play in the AM role, and he does seem suited to their, or playing across the LM, CAM, RAM positions. (less RAM maybe).
He's not worth £70m - no way. But I think £50-£60m is realistic. I reckon he can improve his 1st touch, just look at how much he's improved since he left you lot, and he's still very young. He's got some great attributes that we could utilise and scored a lot of goals considering Everton were pretty poor.
Bloody Skysports claiming we have made enquiries about Lewandowski. Even of this is true it seems massively unlikely Bayern will let a player of that calibre go. Of all the forwards in Europe he would be the best fit for our squad IMO. Would fit right into the Giroud role, seems ready made for the EPL and would score a proverbial **** ton in front of Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla etc..
I expect they want to see us win something again and are waiting to see whether we show intent in the transfer market by signing the top players we need. It can't be much fun watching all the other top sides strengthen while we just dither.
