I've been watching since the start, I find road racing amazingly compelling viewing, it's a shame the picture quality is nothing like as good as in the TdF though. GB has several strong medal contenders in this race, Chris Froome being the obvious favourite, but I fancy Steve Cummings or even Adam Yates to spring a surprise.
Iranian rider just had an off going round the twisty downhill. By heck that road guttering is unforgiving. He's OK. Went over the top. Looked worse than it was, I think. So do I mate. Geraint Thomas is also capable of winning.
I would love Gereint to win, or at least get a medal. One of the heroes of the Sky team for both Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome in the TdF, and of course won the Commonwealth Games gold a couple of years ago. This 5-man team format does away with the concept of domestiques, so he is in a position to be more selfish than in a stage race.
Froome stopped to change bikes, a la TdF. Good omen.? Chris Boardman and Simon Brotherton currently eating their way through their commentary. Making me a bit peckish. Another team car pacing riders back into the race. Naughty.
Dangerous descent coming in the Road Race: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/olympics/36439120 Steve Cummings gone on the ascent.! Job done.
I hope Cummings was driving the pace on behalf of the rest of the British team there, otherwise it seems a waste of effort. Froome and Thomas up with the leaders, looking good!
That descent has taken out a few riders. Ouch.! All three GB riders left in the race, Thomas, Froome and Yates, looking good.
Chris Boardman [commentating] can be a bit dour, but when he said, watch out for this descent, I did wonder.
Yes, been watching it in and off between jobs in the garden all day. Currently sat in the sun with beer watching with Mrs FLT on her I-pad
The cycling is a disgrace, fans running infront of them and some evwn knocking them off. Some gymnast just broke his leg live on air.... Also shots fired at a commentators booth. Brazil is a **** show.
