Tadic extension is wonderful and I'm smiling with a trembling lip. Yay! Compared to my Jose though it's like being given a polo mint when you were hoping for a Mars bar.
So if Tadic is going to play more centrally then a 4-2-3-1 looks probably given our squad. Could look something like this: Forster Cedric Virgil Fonte Bertrand Romeu/Clasie/Pierre/JWP Redmond Tadic/Davis Jrod Long Not bad at all really but so much depends on Jrod's form and fitness
From what I saw on Wednesday something like this: ForsterCedric VVD Fonte Bertrand RomeuClasie Ward-Prowse TadicLong Redmond Probably Hojbjerg to start though. Davis off the bench. But it morphed to this without the ball at times: Romeu Clasie JWPLong...................................Redmond Tadic
Interestingly, the U23's lined up in 4-2-3-1 the other night. If Puel is going to have more of an input into the Academy than RK did, and the Academy teams are going to play the same formation as the first team, and the first team is going to be 4-diamond-2, something hasn't happened yet.
I didn't see anything of the Espanyol match, but it appears you saw the same game as the Echo. I would certainly hope that the Academy plays the preferred club way, whatever that turns out to be. Must admit, I like 4231 as well. Never been a great fan of the Diamond formation. Maybe Puel will get Saints to make it look good.
Curious to see what happens there; we have indicated in the past that we gear everything, including our Academy setup and transfers, toward the 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. If the Academy doesn't change, it could suggest that the diamond isn't in the long-term plans.
I'm Amazed not to have seen this posted yesterday. Apologies if it was and I missed it: 50 years ago on the 5th we signed a legend!! Thought you old'uns would remember, especially Chilcs! http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/1466...nd_club_record_signing_joined_Saints/?ref=rss
A legend and a gentleman, very sad they way it ended for Ron and a great shame we couldn't get him back over the pond to show our respects?
Us beating Leeds...one of my bestest memories and favourite goals. Had been a little nervous...the mighty Leeds United and our first televised game back in the Championship. Easy peasy.
