Off topic and absolutely disgusting. Shame on you, Thomas Cook http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/widow-refused-holiday-compensation-dead-husband-Thomas-Cook/
That is so strange! I was literally just looking at Thomas Cook flight prices to Majorca for next year!
Drove past it yesterday to and from work. I would avoid Long Stratton other than the Chippy. It's a bloody traffic nightmare!
There are very few other reasons that anyone might stop in long stratton. The Indian takeaway is passable I suppose. If you were waiting for that takeaway to cook, you could stop in one of the pubs. It has a cash machine And a petrol station I think thats it? Any representatives of Long Stratton tourist information that might have any other marvels of Stratton that we can visit with our fresh tasty Haddock and chips? Is the chinese any good these days? It wasn't great 10 odd years ago, probably the last time i would have used it. I always prefered Rhinos, though that was more for playing Bomb Jack than the food. Traffic is a nightmare as FML says. Bah!
Use to use the Chinese, was still nice when I last got one. Was probably about 3 years ago. They have turned one of the houses opposite the bakers into a fine dining restaurant. Can't remember what it's called. My parents have been and said it was nice. There's a subway in the coop now. I'm sure that will bring in the tourists.
I saw the new restaurant last time I was travelling through, my family like me are more chilli junkies so they won't be in a hurry to try it. When ever they/we go out it almost always results in visiting a Thai restaurant in the fine city. Thai kitty is currently the favourite since Totally thai changed hands. Chilli junkies or not, did I mention that the Chip inn is really rather good? Bah!
You're doing it on the wrong thread General. The transfer one is now officially the Chippy gossip thread. We should be getting paid for this! We need to tell the company what's been going on here!
OK, I'll speak up for the Stafford Street chippy in Norwich - been going there for years. I have to agree that the Chip Inn is also rather good.
Crikey that brings back fond memories Braveheart, the family home was on St Philips Road and back in the seventies just up the road from the Fish 'n' Chip shop was a greengrocer where my Mum worked. Mel owned the Chippy back then and people would travel miles for his Fish 'n' Chips, the queue on a Saturday lunch time would sometimes stretch around the corner into Alexandra Road nearly as far as Brown's Butchers ! In the evenings us kids would go for our chips just before closing and if Mel's missus (who's name escapes me), was at the till we'd get huge portions and loads of 'scraps', happy days
What about Hot Chip in the city, is that any good? I meant to try it when I came up but never got round to it!
I think the new owner took over some 20 years or so ago now and I don't think his wife works there. The queue on a Friday evening can be quite long, but definitely worth waiting for and he's open late if you fancy a poke of chips after a few beers. Dave - quite a few people rave about the Grosvenor chippy at the bottom of Lower Gate Lane. I wouldn't like to try Hot Chip or the one in Orford Plaice.
I live in Wymondham now, so Big Fry is our local Chippy. They are actually pretty damn good, never had a bad order from there.
Funnily enough Mel took that shop over, I may be wrong but I think you'll find his son Christian now runs it. Would you believe they're debating Fish 'n' Chips on Radio Norfolk right now !
