Chessy v Jones in his last season for us, they both played similar minutes so good comparison. Defence score likely also includes successful passes and pass completion where Jones is also on top. While it's clearly pretty even between the two in most stats, Chester isn't 'clearly' better than a player three years his junior.
The iconic moment for me was against Giroud, he lost his balance, fell, fish flopped and still threw his head at the ball to deny a shot at goal. Yes he can appear clumsy, yes his gurning is a source of mirth, but in the end his "you shall not pass" attitude is all that counts.
Yeah, exactly. I never used the word class, but he certainly is effective, plays with his heart and he is British, which I think we need a few more of.
Boro will 100% be in a relegation fight. I expect you to start like a house on fire, be top 7 until November, but will definitely finish bottom 5. And he thinks a relegation fight involves 3 teams. Bless.
I'm not trying to argue that Chester is better but the stats don't really mean anything when one player is at full-back and the other at centre-back.
Chester, in his own words he only played once at centre-half. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport...o-leave-hawthorns-amid-swansea-city-interest/
He played at centre back almost exclusively in the season from which those stats are based - 2014/15.
Does it really matter who's better, I'd kill to have either of them at the club at the moment. The pace of Vardy and Musa up against Huddlestone at CB, we may as well give them the 3-0 and not bother turning up.
Phil Jones is a hundred percent better than James Chester. Trouble is that Jones' career has been ruined by injury.
I cannot believe some of the players that some fans turn their noses up at!! Jones is an International standard defender, playing for a team at the top end of the table, yet they wouldnt want him over McShane! Unbelievable
At being the correct word, didn't play! Danny Webber was at Man Utd once! http://www.ranker.com/list/top-10-w...69XA.2&utm_referrer=https://www.google.co.uk/
That's one thing McShane and I have in common, we both played the same amount of games for Man United.
He did play for Man Utd. He just didn't play for the first team. This is no doubt one of them occasions I get accused of being pedantic, but I'm guessing McShane played hundreds of games for Man Utd. Just not for the first team.
