They will go up because of the player, pay the tiny fine, and go on with their lives. Just like QPR did when we were competing for the Championship, and like Bournemouth when we were competing for Survival. They cheat, then pay the total Bullsh*t fine. And still make a massive profit on the cheating.

And by the sounds of it a 1st or 2nd choice left back and a 1st or second choice left winger.

Agree FFP, as it stands is basically not worth the paper it's written on.
Points sanctions for these bloody QPRcelona types - now we're talking :emoticon-0116-evilg<devil>

Yep, but wont happen. Until we do it once. And it will be the first season a club is docked 10 points as a punishment.

Didn't Luton get something like that once? I was a jet-heeled spring chicken then, so any fading memories are quite vague ;)
Edit: Holy Moses, I undercooked it by some margin - this is what actually happened!

Having just plowed my way through the past 4 pages on this thread, I must say I found the experience very amusing. OCF, one of the older posters on here, is campaigning for the young players to be given a chance. KIO puts all of the blame on Delia to shock us all with his sudden insight. Canario sees that all is lost because we've kept on Martin, Whittaker and Turner and others follow suit saying our greatest need is a 6th CB option. Great stuff!

It now seems likely that we'll sign Pritchard from Spurs, which FML has been campaigning for long and hard and I'd agree that he'd be a great addition. N'Doye on loan also seems to be a logical move, as that would leave room for another striker coming in as well. It strikes me that the club has responded well to the disappointment of losing McCormack and moved on quickly. As for the young players, I still feel they will get their chance, but as some have said, they must earn that through sub appearances initially and then competing from there. There's much to feel positive about, IMO, in spite of another aging player failing to join us. Time will tell.

Not quiet right for me I don't want a 6th option CB I want a second one to play alongside Klose and step up if Klose gets injured. I'm happy to lose 2 of the lost causes i.e. Turner & Bassong. Martin still has a role to play as RB cover behind Pinto & 4th choice CB.

Signing Whittaker and Turner on for the extra year kind of set the scene for NCFC's transfer window.
Wonder who we'll end up signing on deadline day at a nosebleed inducing price? <laugh> ;)

If Brady and Olsson leave then that's arguably our left back options gone and our 2nd and 3rd best International stars gone.
Losing Vladis or Mulumbu is no great shakes .

And the nominal investment needed to prevent it wouldn't need to come from no great sheiks ;)

Just catching up on today's gossip, McCormack is a blow if he was top choice as it appeared but I don't think he's worth what Villa have paid, not at his age with his rep. I bloomin hope though that Dame isn't the extent of our striker business. Pritchard is a very good player, but do we really need him? Is AN master plan to play a 4-6-0 formation? For me the worry is trying to fit round pegs in square holes. Naismith, HoolIan, Howson and others I fear will be pushed out wide and out if position. It didn't work last season, it likely won't this one.
As for the chip inn long Stratton, it's the best chippy out there. Like FML when I lived in Pulham Market we went to the chip inn virtually every Saturday. It's always fantastic I especially like it in new potatoes season, the always great chips just get greater still. Glynn, Chris, Paul and now Jamie I salute you!

    Bah!

Can you Imagine if we start the season with Toffolo as left back, no recognised cover for the untried youngster as back up and just Jerome who had an absolute nightmare last season ,with Lafferty who was invisible at Euro 2016 and played 2 or 3 games for us starting as a left winger ?.
We go looking to rebuild our team knowing any selling club have us by the Balls and can ask stupid money.
I haven't even heard of a single incoming rumour for left back left wing .

Meanwhile Newcastle and Villa hoover up our main targets .

I don't expect many supporters - not even the glass-half-full merchants can actually argue with this - purely as a snapshot of our window to date. God knows, it can surely only get better? Three and a half weeks to go yet?

If we sign Pritchard for £8m that's still expensive but he was the best player on the pitch when they beat us .

To return to our youth players, I think it goes without saying that we'd all love our home grown players to develop into important first team players. Where we difer appears to be our impression of the youngsters current ability, and how they get the experience necessary to become that first team player. Do we throw them in and see if they sink or swim? Or keeping loaning them out until they're in their mid 20's and hit a ceiling because we can't loan them to good enough clubs?

For me, the single criteria for whether they should make our first team squad is "If they weren't ours, would I want us to buy them for the first team?"

Based on that, really the only youngster I'd be giving a chance to is Josh Murphy. His record last season is far better than anything Redmond put together in any season, and he's done it in the league we're in. He fully deserves a chance, which I think he'll get.

Beyond that, Jacob had a storming 4 months in league one, and would certainly be attracting my attention, but as a player further down the pecking order needing to fight his way into contention or perhaps to be loaned out again. Otherwise, beyond the slightly unknown quantity of Maddison, it's hard to really make a case that anyone else has achieved sufficient amounts to get the nod for the first team.
