As you say - if you buy new players and then give the youngsters a chance instead then you are wasting money. Clearly you don't want the youngsters given a chance - I don't agree but at least you are being honest.

It shouldn't be a case of giving youngsters a chance at this level they need to earn their chance, which means going out on loan at lower level clubs and play to such a standard that everyone questions why they were sent out on loan in the first place. Yes, some of the youngsters are promising but with the exception of Maddison none of them have exactly shown they are good enough to play at a lower level club let alone a Championship promotion chasing team. The club and some supporters really need to get real. If we were to put all our promising youngsters up for sale or for loan tomorrow how many championship teams would look to buy them for their squad let alone there starting 11, None I would guess. It says it all really, that our 2nd keeper when we were in PL is now out on load to a league 1 outfit.

So Josh being named MK Don's player of the season in the Championship means nothing?

Just out of interest, would you be really happy if an Chinese investor took over? With the risk of either doing things right like Man City or Bournemouth type investment, or going the way of Cardiff and Fulham. 50/50 risk.

Or are you just after a local business man investing a little money, but just taking the club away from the board you hate? I don't know from your calls for them to sell up whether you want the risky multi millions to compete with (it seems) everyone else. Or stay the kind of club we are, but with a different board?
Interesting point, FML. Half of me would jump at the chance of well-managed investment from outside the club. Without it we'll never compete at our true level, which sadly, for me, is top 10 championship or bottom 10 premiership.
But I kind of know when/if that gets close, I'll have trepidation and think "better the devil you know?"

If you read my original post you will see that I was referring to the suggestion that we needed 2 new strikers which would leave us with 4 established strikers when AN prefers a system playing just 1 up top. How would Morris get a chance? I stand by my original point. If you have 2 or 3 senior players covering every position on the pitch it is not compatible with ' giving youngsters a chance ' and I want to see the youngsters given that chance. You don't so we will have to just disagree on that.

Totally agree 1950 - if we're to reap any benefit from investing quite heavily to get Cat 1 Academy status (or whatever it's called), then we need to see a few of the youngsters running onto the pitch at the start of the game - not brought on as sub with 15 minutes to go and we're already 3-0 down by playing the likes of Whittaker.

Now being linked with Dame N'Doye, can't say I know too much about him other than he was on loan at Sunderland last season

Why the hell is everyone going on about missing out on McCormack? IMHO we've dodged a fecking great bullet there! I'm glad he's gone to Villa, that will destroy any chance they had of making the playoffs!

I don't think its the missing out on McCormack that's the issue. It's that we're 3 days away from the start of the season and only have one proven striker at this level (Jerome). If he breaks his leg on Saturday then we are really in the Sh!t unless of course we do have other irons in the fire. McCormack certainly wouldn't be the sort of player I would have wanted us to buy, but if it was a choice between going with the strikers we currently have till January or buying McCormack for 12-15 million then I might be tempted.

Totally disagree as has been mentioned many times the youngsters looking to break through are midfielders and we have better established International players in those positions ,we need a striker who can get over 20 goals and a centre back that won't continually gift goals in every other game .
Klose and maybe Bennet are good enough Martin and Turner are **** now and Sebastian is nearly as bad in 50%of his games .
If we sell Ollsson and Brady chucking in Toffolo and Murphy would be a bit risky and we have no other left backs.
Madness.

Done a bit more digging and it appears that a possible loan move for N'Doye is on the cards, what did I say about 'loans' coming in? <whistle>

In other news we now have a big screen at Carrow Road, well that's ok then all set for next season
I can't think of a better evening than in front of the big screen, eating a [HASHTAG]#GalwayRoast[/HASHTAG], having punted a fiver at [HASHTAG]#Corals[/HASHTAG] and watching a substantial midfield try and supply a flimsy strike force! <yikes>

So Josh being named MK Don's player of the season in the Championship means nothing?

Well of course it means something, although it was players player of the season, but 7 goals in 45 appearances in ALL competitions (he only score 4 in 29 Championship games) in a team relegated from the Championship, hardly justifies him to play a key role in a Championship promotion chasing team.

I think we've only been a Cat 1 academy for a couple of years, so realistically like any investment it is for the long term and I doubt that being a Cat 1 academy has had any tangible effect on our current crop of youngsters.
