The thing is, remember last season everyone from every PL club was saying "don't get relegated this season because all the TV money kicks in next season".
Well here we are and we still seem to not want to spend anything.

Indeed, don't you miss all this Welsh rain? we got back into Bristol (Ryanair) to grey skys and rain, your typical July weather, and our transfer market is soggy as well..........<laugh>

PS: What's the weather like in October Pete? Any rain? are the Taverna's still open etc? By the way great that Ryanair are flying regular flights to Chania, never liked the drive from Heraklion.......<ok>

I believe there may be an over-reaction to Huw's transfer business to date. The facts show that since the end of the season he has off loaded the dead wood i.e. Eder, Gomis, Polaschi and sent out several younger players out on loan i.e. Bartley Grimes etc. so he has slim lined the squad and is now hopefully bringing in some quality especially up front. We all would have liked to see the return of Joe Allen but with us being well blessed in that area of play, and Stoke then making a bid of £13 million it would have been foolhardy to have spent that sort of money on a ball winning midfielder when we have Ki, Cork, Leon and Foulton all more than capable of adequately covering this position. Getting Siggy tied down to a new contract and turning down Everton's bid for Ash shows he's still has the club's best interest at heart. With over a month left in the transfer window he still has the time to bring in a couple of quality strikers and I assume this will now be the club's main priority from here on in. If my memory serves me right we could still field the same team that finished the season so strongly so the nucleous of the squad remains in tact, so the time to judge Huw is not now but in 4 or 5 weeks time.

Look at the players huw has missed that did not cost that much money in the first two weeks.....I'M judging him on that and last seasons recruits where the last minute recruited were mostly awful and costly.....He came here as chairman on a whim having no knowledge of football but he was the ideal person to keep the purse strings tight as we were brassed and now we are richer than most clubs not including the big clubs he is still far too stingy for me and we are missing some really good bargains that are cheap for the premiership.......His knowledge about footballers is very limited and we need a proper recruitment manager at the club who will be much faster off the mark than what Huw is and he can still put his two pennyworth in at the board room level.....But for choosing players then no he is not experienced enough....

I just don't understand why teams wait until last minute to do their business though. Its like homework.

Probably because you can squeeze clubs that are desperate to sell, if you look at the swans we generally get most business done by now, I think we learned our lesson when we bought someone (can't remember who?) on the last day of the window and couldn't register him until the next window.

We should already know our targets well before the end of the season and we should know any possible players we could lose....A striker has been needed now since last season so there is no excuse with 12 days to kick off that we have still not sorted this out......There has been some good strikers up for sale at a bargain price in the first week and the sensible clubs went straight in and done the deal while we do nothing.....We should have gone in on the first day and put our reasonable bid in and got our player all done and sorted but not us we went to sleep and let our rivals snap up the bargains....Jenkins cant be trusted on recruitment....

HJ was part of the syndicate that sold their shares to the new owners and personally I think he is there to steer the ship until a suitable replacement is found and for the sake of continuity.

He was part of the Swansea City supporters buy out, but as he and the group could no longer take the club forward, then it is appropriate that he should be replaced asap.

He still holds 5% of the club, so he would have to be bought if he leaves. And I believe that most of the other main shareholders retain small percentages of the club

He could still remain a shareholder, but not necessarily Chairman (or whatever his job description is!)

If he goes to a different club (which is unlikely) as a director then he has to sell his shares. But he's not going anywhere

Yes, but surely he doesn't have to stay in his current position. He can still be a shareholder but not hold any formal job with the Club, just as with any other company.

Throughout the whole let's sack Huw debate, nobody has actually come up with anyone to replace him, it's all well and good saying to sack him, but really at the present time I can't see anyone to do his job.
