Yawn We signed Distin at 32 and got 5 years out of him. Jags is 34, Fonte 32, ergo you're talking bollocks Oh and he doesn't do crack either which is always a bonus for a CB eh mate
Williams not going to Everton, unless they stump a hell of a lot more http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36960569
They'd agreed the deal, the player had accepted terms and has been house hunting in the NW. An odd way of doing business, but they're Welsh, so maybe not.
I'm sure it's just face saving and the deal is done. I mean, no way you get of this self inflicted hook.
By the sounds of it thats the part that was wrong, they didn't agree any price. You guys submitted a bid and they rejected. It was only 'sources' and 'reported', there was nothing offical from either club, until now. Also seems they don't want to sell, so either you lot are going to move on or have to pay a stupid price for him
Wrong. They agreed a deal in principle hence the reason we spoke to him. It appears their principles deserted them this evening....
Did you though, all I can see is paper talk. Tonight was the first thing from either club that wasn't speculation. Wouldn't surprise me if they did think they could get more, considering the £50m Stones stuff though
Clubs don't have to agree a fee for discussions with the player to happen. The selling club just have to allow talks with said player. Maybe Swansea want to sell for some reason?
Clubs have to give permission for formal talks to happen, they only do that after a fee has been agreed, that's how it works. They've patently decided to squeeze a few more quid out of it after the fact, and are no down wanting him to hand in a transfer request to save the loyalty payment, and be able to give it "we tried, but the player wanted to go" routine.
Not true. Often see cases where clubs have given persmisison for player to talk to buying club and see circumstances were player and club agree personal details and all thas left is for clubs to agree a fee. All you need is selling clubs permission but doesn't mean a fee has to have been agreed. fact they give permission is pretty concrete that they are happy to sell if they get right price though so don't often see deals fall through and inagine this will go ahead once you stump up the extra few million. Anyway now you have this rich new owner and getting £50m for stones (did city not learn from sterling deal? ) whats an extra £5m to you guys. Just stump up the dosh if you want him.
If tobes you are saying wages were agreed then i can only conclude someone in swansea got a shocking backlash or got cold feet.
Today's stories. Either. A) klopps come hone. Met the staff and said we need to buy here guys. I've assessed everything and we need x and y and someone inmediatelyvleaks that. Or B) the hacks have come home and immediately had to make something up to justify their existance given how little we heard from lfc.
I think Everton wants to drive a hard bargain. They would like to milk Chelsea, get almost twice the price they paid for the player. Who is blaming Everton?. I don't.
no now astro, give then the benefit of the doubt. Walsh is a genius who's just in the door and of course koeman is too. they only need a little time and every buy like these two williams and gueye will propel everton up the table
For the selling club to grant permission there has to be a deal agreed in principle, which is what has happened here. You wouldn't grant permission for a club to speak to your player without an fee being even discussed ffs. "oh yeah crack have a chat with Suarez no bother".....terms agreed with the player etc "how much? £2m? no deal then lads" This is about a bit more dosh and being seen to have put up a fight imo. I fully expect it to conclude, but it's football so you never know.
