He certainly could. His contacts would be immense an arl. Pretty much burnt his bridges with Real Madrid though. If he is being considered he'd be my automatic first choice.

I know that is the rule but it is commonly ignored because it is impossible to prove it happens - even if an offer is made that matches the release clause.

Got a feeling he'll say how much he wants and it will be a case of "thanks but no thanks"

He's at 22/1 with sky bet. So tempted he he

He probably wouldn't want any more than the three former Premier League managers would ask for. The stumbling block would probably be when the Allams use the bottom of a pint glass to draw the transfer budget on the paper.

Surely this is plain obvious to any manager actually considering the job. It's known nationally we aren't spending.

I said: “The contract is terminated when the release clause is paid.” #1994 and
“Yes, he would. IF Newcastle had paid the release clause WITHOUT agreeing a conditional deal with Diame” #2001
I was meaning that Diame would have to want the contract to be terminated - obviously a third party cannot effect a contract between two others unless one party was in agreement - and obviously Newcastle wouldn't pay anything until they had a contract with Diame.
We should get back to whether the club has to formally "accept" the offer. I don't think they do. Obviously, if the release clause said that the club had to formally accept the offer then they would have to but if the release clause didn't say the club had to formally accept the offer - maybe just saying the club must give permission for talks to take place and sign the transfer forms if they got an offer which was equal or greater to the release clause - then that would be all that was required.

The ONLY thing that anyone knows, is that NO ONE has a ****ing clue what is going on, even the ****ers running the club, Buckingham, Burns, anyone on 606, anyone in the entire ****ing world.

He's not done well in management for years. I think people are impressed by the way he was effortless in his playing days.

The new manager is the current caretaker manager, it's always going to be him. Ehab's probably releasing all these names to get people betting on the latest name, all benefit for Sportpesa.

At this point I just want the season to start regardless of how we line up, and regardless of who's in charge. At least then there'll be no uncertainty about where we stand.

You can buy an awful lot of free transfers for £4.5m.

Why is everyone talking about Diame's release fee so much? We got him for £3m, way under estimated value, for the same reason.

He'll have to arrange that medical around his court appearance then.

It's getting a little bizarre on this thread, people are arguing over whether it's a fact that we haven't signed anyone and semantics over what 'release clause' means?

It's obviously a fact that we've signed no-one yet and when a players release clause is met he can leave if he wants. The end.

The Allams holidaying in France is nothing to do with the managerial appointment, they were already going to France before Bruce left.

It's even worse that I've had to wade through pages of this ****e on the wrong thread. If we're going to argue about what a release clause means - really? Only on this board...- then at least do it on the City transfers thread.

Vice chairman Ehab Allam, who in the past has praised former Watford and West Ham United manager Zola, is expected to arrive at Hull’s training camp near the German border today, after which the hope is that a swift appointment can be made.

If all goes to plan, the new man should be in attendance when the Tigers take on Caykur Rizepor tomorrow in their penultimate pre-season friendly.

If you were considering a job would you want to get a feel for the club by touring the stadium and training grounds with the owners or discussing the appointment over the phone and/or where the owners are on holiday? The owners interaction with staff can be very telling.
