True - but has he been offered one?

Either way, I'd sell him. I like the guy and wish him all the best. But he's just not got that cutting edge to be good enough for what we aspire to.

So are crystal Palace going to stump up the cash for Benteke?

If they do FSG will have spent close to nothing on transfers. The players leaving will have financed a large portion of the incoming lads.

So I would be disappointed if we do not get competition for Moreno. Part of me feels he never bothers that much with his defensive work as when he looks at the bench he cannot see any one challenging him.

Liverpool take former Barcelona left-back on trial
If Liverpool fail in their pursuit of Ben Chillwell, they will turn to former Barcelona left-back, Juanma, who is currently on trial at the club.
The Mirror, report that the defender made his debut for the club's U21 side against Rhyl this weekend, and even laid on assist in the game, boosting his chances of earning a contract at the Anfield club

Well klopp said he needs to decide which suggests a new contract would have been offered but not with gaurantee of being first choice, something which Allen probably wants which can't blame him for.

    Me too.
Like you say, it is a bit different this time. If every year the same manager completely overhauls his first team then you have to believe he just can't get it right, but it's to be expected with an incoming boss with his own distinct ideas on how the game is played.
We have a new manager, he's had a little time to see who he can work with amongst the players he's inherited, so he now goes out and brings in those who he feels are necessary to supplement them.
Provided he can get them, of course.

Allen is set for stoke medical. the ship is sailing.

all the cultists need a new hero. Just pick someone who's a bit **** like lallana and make him out to be a footballing god if only we'd play him more. the nice thing baout being a lallana worshiper for those of this ilk is that we'e bought two guys who will hopefully ensure he is a bench warmer.

we need to face u pto it. we are muck. we got to two finals being muck as well. We moved faces and brought faces in. not sure about what we bought in but we will see.

In the end its 6 players:

Karius was needed and quite cheap. we put ward out ofr experience and frnakly who knows if he's going to be a great keeper in the end but we will make a very saleable asset out of him.

Matip is a tall CB, this league needs that. he's also decent looking on the ball and everything skertl is not. Skerlt was on the way out so this is positive. Is he much better. I dunno but if he just doesn't back off all the time and can pass properly its a plus

Klavan, god knows but we do know it took toure a good month to get fit and he got 3 separate early injuries in games and was a liability early on. Its pure cover.

Winjnaldum... I dunno.. I really don't but it appears to me to be a buy to replace allen in that sort of advanced CM role not as a holding player. allen with respect is far to lightweight and passes square and worst of all is made of glass. We just can't say its any improvement yet. The guy is a flake according to newkie fans.

Mane. Clearly adding a body in a role where bodies were badly needed. It adds width and pace and directness where a lallana would just hold the ball, do a cryuff turn and back pass. This does improve us.

Manninger. less said the better. not expected to be seen barring in league cup on bench type of thing.

so for me we only have added 4 players. the other 2 don't count really.

Karius adds serious competition for GK.
    Matip improves CB hopefully
    Mane certainly improves us
    Wijnaldum is uncertain.

We still have gaps to fill. it will take another summer to get close to top 4 and by that i mena actually competing at the top end of the table not just scraping for 70 points.

    I disagree.

You seem to judge it all on the players single ability. Klopp has got some players he wants and will train them as a unit. We don't have any European football so our fitness levels will be a lot better. We'll also have a much stronger bench. All our attacking midfielders can't play at once so we'll have lots of threat on the bench.

We've improved massively and with Klopp in charge working the team hard as a unit we'll be fine.

You can't just predict from the players only, if that was the case Chelsea wouldn't have finished 10th and Leicester wouldn't have won the league.

Quite frankly it's a very lazy analysis.

    Yeah... but I'm an optimistist.

Ok, not really - but I can't get too worried about football when there are so many actually important things to be concerned over.
So I just prefer to sit back and see what happens rather than get too worked up because the club isn't doing what I think it should.
Enjoy the ride and all that.
Doesn't stop me being depressed when we lose or draw, but the recovery time is getting shorter. I'm almost over the Europy League defeat already. <ok>

Well... I know what you mean about the club doing what it should be doing. I think above klopp theres a real mire of unknowns and just doing enough types.

I'm looking at anfield and thinking... jesus if the case for anfield road is "marginal" theres many many clubs that would just go do it on the basis that it needs to be done to compete long term. They've got to do enabling works first. why are they not just saying right we have the main stand apart here lets get these water mains shifted now.

Not sure if thye are not just parked over it with a lot of **** though right now.

Then theres the ian ayre situation.

then theres the training grounds and academy being split. I get the feeling reading about it many feel its badly hurting player development.

then theres the longer term. Ok everton appointed koeman but he could be gone in 2 years, they appointed a technical director. We threw a new deal at klopp basically. We need a technical director to shape the non first team development of the club.

Who appoints coaches, who manaages the academy director and oversees his efforts. Its not about player recruitment. Who manages the training ground development etc etc etc.

Good point............this will be the 'acid test' for next season. It will be interesting to compare our bench v Arsenal on the first day against our bench
for our first game last season. Last year we seemed to have some quality/some fillers.

It's looking like we're definitely going to have a very good option for all areas of the pitch on the bench.

    Keeper - No concerns.
Defence - needs one more, but bench wise should be fine as players can cover easily enough.
CM - Plenty of options to come on.
AM - Massive improvement for the bench, game changers.
ST - I'm assuming we play one up top, so that means we have very good options on bench.

Our bench could be a mix of these -

Migs, Moreno, Klavin, Milner, Hendo, Grujic, Wijnaldem, Ojo, Lallana, Ings, Origi

    And plenty of others.

Basically we have so many options now. If you think back to our bench at the end of last season if was shocking, players that people hadn't even heard of ffs!! I know we had injuries, but now we have cover, plenty of it.
