I believe they (or more accurately Ehab) tried to **** him off, but he wouldn't go.

Hopefully, he will be free to speak rather than be gagged as previous managers have been.
One or two interesting nuggets coming out in the national media- like Allams miffed they weren't consulted re the England interview, and SB exasperated that he couldn't contact them to inform them of the approach.

Well at least all those on here who were calling for Steve Bruce to go are happy - although reading some of their posts on here it seems many of them have changed their minds! Well done to OLM who has been proved right in this. He said that he thought that Bruce was close to walking as he did not get on with Ehab. I am a big Bruce fan & I think it's a shame that he has gone - he's been superb for Hull City. But life moves on and there's a big opportunity now for a new broom to come in & make a name for himself. It's a good situation to come into as expectations amongst many are low, and so staying in the Premier League will be seen as a big achievement. Thank you Steve Bruce for all that you have done for us and good luck in the future.

They weren't particularly, which was what made it so surprising, although Barcelona playing like twats at the back helped. Compare Old Trafford then, particularly the Stretford .End, with now. All seater stadia? Worst thing that happened to football in this country.

Whoosh !!

If Bruce did stay on hoping for a payout then I think he made the wrong decision. No vacancies came up for him I guess so he just stayed on, but I think he should have left when it was clear they wouldn't give guarantees.

Do you think that a pay off on a one year rolling contract will be of much concern to a bloke worth £20 million or so?
