He conceded 61 goals in 37 games In the Scottish Premiership, and at 32, he should be at his maximum potential now, not hoping he improves as a player in the coming years. That's why I'm unsure of him.

He looked decent at the Euros, he had a good 3 or 4 games in a row. I don't know if that makes him any better than what we have. I haven't scouted him for the previous seasons of his career, like you must have. So I'll concede to you're professional opinion Dave.

I'm not slagging him off, I just don't feel he's an essential, so I'm not that fussed about it. Unlike the CB's and Strikers we still need from Houghton's era. If he joins, fair enough. Back up to 4 Keepers again, Which is always exciting. Shame we can have all 4 in goal at the same time. Might sort our defence out.
Our keepers conceded 67 in 38 games last season with Rudd playing a hand full of games. <ok>

In the Premier League. As everyone keeps saying, Scottish Premiership is like top end League 1 bottom few of Championship. That's what I meant. :emoticon-0148-yes:
Well in that case he had worse defenders than our Premier league stars in front of him even better achievement <ok>

We didn't have or sign Premier League stars, or sign enough of them (Klose the exception). That was our problem.

They still had to be in goal against premiership star players though. As appose to League 1 stars.

OK so you just pick the stats to suit your strange bias.
McGovern played against Germany and saved many shots from the current World cup winners but you dismiss that as "putting himself in the shop window".
You then dismiss the SPFL as our 3rd tier standard yet when we were in the PL our players in front of Ruddy weren't really Premier league players .
OK crystal clear.:emoticon-0136-giggl

What strange bias?

I just said I don't think he has be a constant force to be excited about, and I don't think we need another keeper for this season. I said I had nothing against him, He looked half decent In a few Euro games.

Also, our players weren't Prem players blah blah, 3rd tier blah blah. You do know there is a tier in between don't you? Where our standard was, and this keeper has to step up to?

Crystal clear :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ah, just seen we've signed him. Hopefully we can work on strengthening now that's done.
I would agree with burst baws that JR, up till 2/3 years ago was a far superior keeper, I would argue that he was better than Joe Hart!

Since his serious injury, he is along way short of what he used to be, he has his moments but his kicking and distribution are awful!
That's very true. He reminds me of Andy Marshall.

Exactly, which is why we got relegated in such a easy season to stay up. If they were Premiership quality, we would still be there.
Ruddy was garbage and Rudd not much better .
If McGovern plays anywhere near his "shop window " form we will have a huge Improvement.
The last decent game I saw Ruddy play was the play off final and he had little to do that day.
