I'm delighted to hear that both Murphys, Thompson, Maddison, Toffolo etc are training well and had a decent game vs Posh. To temper that, I just think when it gets to 'points for prizes' fairly soon, will he (AN) be so bold then? :emoticon-0112-wonde

Happy to see the BBC has us as favourites to sign McGovern, as a former goalkeeper myself, unlike FML, I can see an awful lot of potential in him.

I feel sorry for JR, like Braveheart, I was very much a fan of his but since his injury, he has not been the same player and there's no room for sentiment in football, so either Declan or JR will probably move on!

"No room for sentiment" , at last we're singing from the same hymn sheet Davey boy ;)

Yes, \i do feel that whilst the defence didn't give whoever was in goal much protection at times, I do tend to agree that JR hasn't been the same assured keeper since his injury!! (ex JRFan on not606!!)

He conceded 61 goals in 37 games In the Scottish Premiership, and at 32, he should be at his maximum potential now, not hoping he improves as a player in the coming years. That's why I'm unsure of him.

He looked decent at the Euros, he had a good 3 or 4 games in a row. I don't know if that makes him any better than what we have. I haven't scouted him for the previous seasons of his career, like you must have. So I'll concede to you're professional opinion Dave.

I'm not slagging him off, I just don't feel he's an essential, so I'm not that fussed about it. Unlike the CB's and Strikers we still need from Houghton's era. If he joins, fair enough. Back up to 4 Keepers again, Which is always exciting. Shame we can have all 4 in goal at the same time. Might sort our defence out.

Would any body suggest that Jake Kean and Gary Hooper would be good signings for us this summer?

Kean no (rather give Matthews a chance) but Hooper - well, he will do ok in the Championship and always felt he could do a job for us if played in tandem with another striker.

We need to strengthen up front - what have we got ? Jerome - yep, proven Championship scorer, Lafferty (wants out), Ricky (probably also wants out) and ...... errr ......

Still we're favourites to sign McCormack !!! <whistle>

I remain to be convinced that he's worth much more than £10M, never mind the £15M being suggested. I guess the trouble is, which other striker can we tempt to CR who has a decent scoring record in the Championship for around £10M or less???

Unfortunately they are in a position where they don't need to sell and have more than one interested party. It's like Brady, worth £20M? Hell no, but we can force the price up. I still can't believe we'll spend that much on someone with no likely resale. And if we can countanance that sort of spent, where was it last season? Like others if we would consider £15m for McCormack, I'd rather go to £12m first for Britt, at 23 a much better bet.

Bah!
