McGovern might just give us an extra 15 points next season and perhaps even save a penalty or two

McGovern seems to be a shrewd move on a free, DD. AN knows him well. I wonder if Rudd might go out on a 6 month loan to get more playing time, leaving McGovern and Ruddy to compete for the starting line-up.

I've also been encouraged by AN's comments about all of the young players involved at Posh. It's still early days for Maddison, but both Murphys seem to have a golden opportunity now. He also praised the partnership between Tettey and Thompson, which did look very good and the latter could take O'Neil's place in the squad as the 6th CM. Similarly Toffolo seems to have a chance as back-up for Olsson, especially as Whittaker can also cover at LB. Godfrey was more of a surprise for me, but he looked very solid as did Efete. Louis Ramsay and Todd Cantwell were also singled out for praise by AN, but I suspect they will go out on loan this year to build up their experience.

Agreed RER and I agree that AN needs to start getting some of the more promising youngsters actually in the first team squad at the very least and not just saying how well they played in pre season friendlies. If he can get the blend of youth and experience right, we could have a team that can establish itself comfortably in the top half of the Championship.
I'm hoping to get to the friendly against Coventry and see how we perform then.

What was the reasoning behind Mcgovern not staying on at Hamilton?

Was wondering the same thing myself so having joined Accies World last year when AN arrived, I've just post a thread on there to see if they can give us any feedback.

As far as I'm concerned, the jury's still out on Afobe, we weren't cheapskates with him, we offered the same as Bournemouth! <ok>

I'd love to see McCormack come here, he is someone I wanted us to sign for the past 5 or so years, but £15m for a 29year old who hasn't player PL football is ridiculous. He would be a great addition to the squad but at the price I think we could get someone younger that is capable of returning a similar amount of goals.

I'd rather we stuck a £10m bid in for Assombolonga for example.

Not really bothered about McGovern. Haven't seen much from him apart from these latest few games where he was trying to put himself in the shop window for Premiership clubs, and only got offered a back up role. In the Championship, I think Rudd or Ruddy would be fine with a couple of Defenders coming in. Then get a new keeper if we go up, if we do go up, McGovern most probably will have to be second choice.

McCormack Might be a very good player, and could get us the goals to gain promotion. If so, you'd say get him! £15 mil for a player his age is a hell of a lot of money. He's never played in the Prem either. It's a big risk. If we don't get promotion, £15M on a 30 years old would be a disaster. We wouldn't get that money back.

I would love us to go in for Britt. Forest media and supporters were in a right panic when he was linked with us. Says a lot. Plus potential to improve and increase in value.

Of course if we ended up getting both (yea right!) then we would have a striker line up to scare any Defence in this league, and bottom half of the Prem.

Happy to see the BBC has us as favourites to sign McGovern, as a former goalkeeper myself, unlike FML, I can see an awful lot of potential in him.

I feel sorry for JR, like Braveheart, I was very much a fan of his but since his injury, he has not been the same player and there's no room for sentiment in football, so either Declan or JR will probably move on!

Like all new NCFC players I will give them a fair chance before I have an opinion on them. If McGovern does come here and on a free as well I think that will be good business.
