Foreign players at our level are seldom an overnight success, which is what you need as a new club. Getting off to a good start with points on the board is very important.

If we signed players 6 of the following players (hypothetically).

GK Marshall Cardiff

Def Sane Bordeaux
Def Shackell Derby

Mid Hendrick Derby
Mid Mason Spurs
Mid Howson Norwich
Mid Hoolahan Norwich
Mid McManaman WBA

St Ulloa Leicester
St HKR

I think we'd have a decent squad

Sane from Bordeaux wouldn't be my choice. I'd sign someone like Shackell at Derby and go with Dawson, Davies and Maguire. Job done.

I'd take Howson, Mason and Hendrick. Sane I don't know much about but can't be too bad if he's captained Bordeaux. The rest aren't good enough in my opinion. That's the problem, if a club of our size sticks to just British talent, we end up looking at players like McMenamin.

Ulloa is comfortably good enough.
 
Its ok naming all these players who we would like to sign but lets not forget at this moment in time our manager has eighteen million to spend, I reckon mason and Ulloa would take most of that and has we all know we need at least six players to add to this squad. I personally think we need to add three forwards to our squad but I think because of SB 's budget he is having to settle for two, Lets not forget the last time we were in the premier league we had most of this squad plus extras yet still went down. If I'm honest I think we have a decent squad we will have to add to defence and midfield but our forward line at this moment in time must be by far the worst in the premier league.

He doesn't have 18m to spend, somebody made that up.
 
Maybe time to change tack. Lets bring in Crouch, Robson-Kanu, Sane and the long throwing Gunnarson. Play 352. Sane, Dawson, Davies all 6"3+. Diame, Huddlestone, Crouch and Robson-Kanu all over 6". Long throws and free kicks just load the box!! That would keep us up!!

If we sign the players we are linked with I'll be happy. We have always needed two strikers as a minimum, so if getting HRK on a free means we can have more to spend on a n other then great! At the moment HRK has his pick of clubs, so what soundbites would you like to come of the media? He's our 4th choice striker? I'm a bit baffled by comments from everyone - he had a great tournament, he works hard and he'd be a better option up front than Diomande.

Boro have signed Valdes, and are about to sign Negredo and Subotic. If you think we have a better squad than them you're dreaming.

We have 17 fit players. We don't even have enough to name an XI and bench.
 
the only redeeming thing about BoringCunt, was that at least he identified his targets early and purchased them as soon as the transfer window opened.
Thus giving them time to gel together.

Valdes was good for United in the game we got relegated in, he's hardly turned to trash since then, Subotic is still good in Dortmund, the only reason they got him was his injury record. If he stays fit he'll be brilliant for them. Negredo is better suited to English football than Spanish and did well with Man City while he was here. All three show ambition, not to mention the other players they have signed.

We have 15 fit senior squad members. It's getting beyond a joke.

Valdes had half a decent game for us and two where he looked extremely dodgy, he played twice for the U21s (before he refused) and looked really ****e.
Subotic has not been anything like his best since his bad injury and spent most of last season on the bench at Dortmund.
Negredo had a purple patch at City then slumped and was quickly and cheaply dispatched, he was sat on the bench most of last season and used as a last throw of the dice for Valencia where he missed lots of great chances, he made his name in Spain by the way so was quite suited to their football then.
They are not the players you remember.

We'll see. They may no longer be good enough for United, City or Dortmund, but I think Boro will find them a helpful boost.

Meanwhile we're after Robson-Kanu and a defender from Bordeaux.

Robson-Kanu is a freebie and a no brainer if you are short of strikers.
I no nothing of the defender from Bordeaux but will say we once got a defender from Monaco called Evra (I knew nothing of him either), that worked out ok.
Stop worrying/moaning about getting free squad fillers and wait to see who you get with the actual funds available.

Robson-Kanu isn't a no brainer when he has 39 career goals. He's a body for the squad if that's what you mean, but that's a terrible reason to sign someone.

When did we sign Evra?

That is what I meant, he was free and can fill a roll if needed, nothing wrong with that when you only have 15 fit players to start the season.
